I have had to order a total of four of these for my monitors. The sound quality is adequate and because they are made to fit multiple sizes they look small on the U3014 Dell UltraSharp U3014 30-Inch PremierColor Monitor.
I use 3.5mm Black 6-Port Multi Headphone Splitter Adapter for Portable Media Players / Smart Phones with 6" Connector Cord to hook in multiple computers.
Less wire clutter and having headphone and volume control front and center is awesome. (I normally listen to content with Bose noise canceling headphones in my office to avoid annoying co-workers.)
Cheap enough not to be overtly annoying to replace
Works with HDMI output and (sometimes) DP. (Not sure if this is an OS/Linux, U3014, or a carbon unit thing.)
Reasonable stereo separation IF you are head on to the unit.
Fragile. DO NOT try and adjust a monitor on an arm with one of these installed. The plastic can't handle almost any force and WILL break. That is why I have had to order 2 replacements for a total of 4. The two I've broke were on a system that needed more adjustment. ALWAYS grab the MONITOR and NOT the sound bar. (Stupid cats and I argue about how monitors should be aligned, they prefer whisker adjustments and I have an affinity for slightly better alignment.)
Sound quality is adequate, but it NOT as good as a well separated set of speakers could be.
Don't expect neighbor annoying bass response.
Looks tiny on large monitors.
Overall if you have Dell monitors that support this unit it will serve you well if you leave it alone.
I've purchased 4 (2 from Dell, and two from amazon) and keep on coming back BECAUSE it is nice to get the extra clutter of the speaker wires out of the way. I can't give a 4 or 5 star rating because of the deficiencies, but it serves MY purposes and that is why I've (to date) kept on coming back. The one in the photo is typically hooked up to a MacBook Pro and Intel NUC. And the wiring mess from them is a constant annoyance. Every little bit helps.
