It took me awhile to get into this book - Ollie is bitter and whiny right from the beginning, while Lennon, for a guy who makes his living out of words, is seriously dense as to the impact they can have, and how they could be interpreted. However, I persevered and it was well worth the effort. These men seriously spark together. They are both complex and damaged, but they can’t resist the pull of the other. This was a one sitting read for me, I started in the morning and did not stop. Ollie’s overly enthusiastic family are a wonderful backdrop to the story, and give depth to his attitude. While Lennon is staunchly loyal almost in spite of himself. The story delivers fake boyfriend and a variation on enemies to lovers, and keeps the tension ratcheting, and the engagement high. There is snark, drama, and feelings galore. Very well done, this author just keeps hittin her stride.
I loved this, I think Ollie and Lennon have become my new favourites in this series. Being closeted had already cost Ollie one relationship. What began as a fake boyfriend scene to get his family off his back, turned into a love / hate , back and forth relationship between Ollie and Lennon. Wonder fully written, with drama and angst of coming out. Looking forward to next book.
Deke has a few of my favourite troupes. * fake boyfriends * closeted sport star Eden Finley has cornered the market on Fake Boyfriends. Deke is very well written and very entertaining and another great addition to the series. It's sexy and full of humour!!! Although it's the 3rd book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone.
