Ryder Axton

I always fight hard, f*ck harder, and never let myself get personally involved. But my assignment to apprehend Eduardo Miguel comes to a grinding halt when I find a missing federal witness held captive in his basement. It becomes fucking personal, fast!

Keeping Farrington safe, even if it--or more likely she--kills me, is now my only mission. But she's terrified and fights me at every turn. Earning her trust becomes more than a way to save both our lives, it's like an addictive drug. I need it--I need her to put her faith in me.

When she begins investigating the hidden parts of my soul, I almost can't deny her. I know I can protect her. I know I could pleasure her in one explosive night she'd always remember and I'd never forget. What I don't know is how I could be falling so hard. There's no way in hell I can let that happen; getting too close to me comes with an ominous curse that won't be defied.
I thought I had nothing to lose. I was wrong.

Rachel Farrington

I should've never taken that dangerous shortcut through the unlit alley to the frat party. It was where I saw a fellow student brutally murdered and how I made my way onto a cartel leader's hit list.
As a federal witness, I thought I was safe in the protective custody of the FBI . . . that is until I woke up chained in the monster's basement.

When a powerful and lethal soldier claiming to be a bounty hunter shows up, I'm not sure if he's rescuing me or dragging me towards a greater hell. But after a series of experiences that defy death, the overwhelmingly sexy, dirty-minded, Navy Seal trained and hot blooded bounty hunter--who obviously plays by his own rules--just might win my trust.

He is not an ordinary man. He's strong, dark and deadly; his past is mysterious and his motives unreadable. He seems to be made of the stuff of myth and legend, and of ink and steel.

Is Ryder Axton for real? Or is he employed by my captor for a more sinister purpose?

When death comes, can we defy it... again?

An Action-packed crime drama/romance standalone in the Brother's of Ink and Steel series
***Each novel in the Brothers of Ink and Steel series focuses on one couple's journey to their HEA

Well-written, well-defined characters and a good/uncomplicated plot (with a few twist). This narrative gripped my interest from the start. I've read all The Brothers of Ink, so far, and this one certainly didn't disappoint.

The story moves at an appropriate pace, depending on the situation - action, suspense, intimacy, reveals, dialogue, growing bonds, etc. There were no stagnant sections and the narrative flowed so easily. It has a different feel to the others as the scenario ignited quickly and the bulk of the story was set within a small snatch of time.

The two main characters were simply gorgeous and very easy to warm to. Both had their challenges and issues to fight through. Rachel - a beautiful, driven, intelligent, insightful and feisty young woman. Ryder - a savvy, larger than life hero with a patched-up shattered soul. Their predicament seemed inescapable and grim,'s an HEA after all.

Loved it !

( apologies for any spelling errors)

This deserves way more than 5 stars. I've highly anticipated this release, after seeing Ryder in Josh and Liam's books I wanted his own story so badly I swear I mentally demanded it and thank goodness she delivered one Heck of an amazing, high octane, high energy, vibrating with life of its own story. Ryder is everything I expected from previous descriptions and he did not disappoint in any aspect. I could picture him as described reading his parts and through Rachel's pov that gave me his image perfectly. He's the every man's man. The total package that makes me glad he's fiction because if he was real I have a feeling he wouldn't be safe from any woman. He is just....WOW. And I know that seems vague but if you even want to know what I mean read the book.

Rachel was exactly like you would expect if a captive trying to just survive. Her Kev of stubbornness perfectly fought against Ryders rescue attempts that I literally laughed as I saw those scenes play out in my.mind like a movie. Everything just suited the story perfect like it was drawn up by devine intervention.

Overall thoughts of this story.
Definitely worth the read, the reread and reading again and again. The entire series plus the North series is a series I highly recommend.

Storyline: Starts out strong and doesn't taper into boredom at any time.

Character development: Each character had a well written, well thought out part.

Scene emotions: so well written I think of you don't feel what the characters do reading this you are not human(jk)

Read the North series featuring Josh's brothers, then the Brothers of Ink and Steel series. Definitely not sorry I started. I can't wait to see what Mousseau brings us next.

I'm so privileged and honoured to have had the chance to read an ARC from an USA Today Bestselling Author and also one of my favourite authors. I had been anticipating the reading of this book since she started promoting it and to top it off, I got an advanced copy. I've received the awesome book Defy from Allie Juliette Mousseau in exchange for an honest and spoiler free review. This action packed romance book deserves no less than 5 amazing stars.

This book has every thing to make it a great hit. Action packed, fast paced, adrenaline ride all the way. It started with an heartbreaking prologue that got me hooked right away. The readers have no other choice but feel and love Ryder. It's funny and romantic at the same time. It's like watching a movie but in your head.

Ryder is a well known bounty hunter that stops at nothing to be the victor. He's a cocky, confident, funny and sexy all american hero. Who can even ride an alligator. He is hired to find a well known criminal who has escaped the authorities. He vows to catch him. But what he doesn't expect to find is the key witness to the crime, Rachel, tied to a wall in the room of the criminals house. Now Ryders plans have changed, he needs to save her. He will go through a series of hurdles but he will not fail to try to save and protect her family and her. Underneath his tough act, he's scared to fail and has moments where his past comes back to haunt him. He was a witness to a crime when he was young and was not left un scattered. He still has moments of weakness.

Rachel was at the wrong place at the wrong time so she got to witness something awful. Miguel, the criminal will not stop until the problem has been solved. Rachel will awakened in a room and realized she's been kidnapped. She's smart, feisty and easily able to handle the situation. She's good at keeping her fears at bay. Rachel is a fighter and won't back down in the face of the enemy. When she is rescued by none other than Ryder, she thinks he's a criminal too. She will give him a run for his money. They are so hilariously funny together. They have explosive chemistry even after knowing each other for only a matter of hours.

" One day that feels like a lifetime"

Allie has put her creative mind and plotting onto paper to keep us entertained for hours. Defy has a well thought out and executed plot with fascinating characters. The author will take you on a full adrenaline roller coaster ride. She has such a wonderful way of writing that her story just captured my undivided attention and have the perfect amount of steamy romance. She has the ability to give wonderful descriptions and great depth to her characters. The action started fairly early in the book and didn't let up until the very end. After reading a couple pages out of the epilogue, I thought that I wasn't getting my HEA but she surprised me with a wonderful original finish.

This story is told in a dual POV without a cliffhanger and with an HEA. This is book 3 in the Brothers of Ink and Steel series. This is a standalone, there is no need to have read the previous books in order to enjoy this one. Although, I personally prefer to read series in order for better enjoyment but the previous characters do not play a role in this story. There is only one scene with the other brothers, some that were introduced in the 2 previous ones. I've read all her book and they are all worth your precious time and money. This is one book that when you start reading you will find it difficult to put it down.

HASH(0xba8e1174) out of 5 stars Ryder... I'll be your bounty any day. ;) 2 December 2015

I have honestly decided that Ryder Axton is my soulmate.

Ryder is a bounty hunter that comes from a long, painful history. He lives for his work and he continues to taunt and defy death at every turn. And he's about to take on his biggest case yet.

Rachel Farrington was a good girl that happened to be in a bad place at the wrong time. After witnessing a horrible crime, she was taken into safety by the FBI. That is, until she wakes up in a basement while chained to a wall. How will she escape this prison? Will she be able to get out before she is killed? And if so, will Eduardo Miguel ever stop hunting her down?

This is a dual POV story.
This story is action packed. The prologue had me crying uncontrollably for Ryder. The first chapter had me scared for Rachel, and had me laughing for Ryder. With Ryder being a bounty hunter, there is bound to be a large amount of action. There's car chases, foot chases, shooting, and even alligator wrestling. ;)
Honestly, this story was a bit different than the other Brothers of Ink and Steel, but I think it fit Ryder. He's never really been the same as everyone else and he marches to the beat of his own drum. I loved that we got a glimpse of the guys, albeit brief.
As long as you keep an open mind and do not try to lump Ryder in with the rest of the guys, you will enjoy this story.

HASH(0xbaab8fb4) out of 5 stars 4 action packed stars 12 December 2015

This next Brother of Ink and Steel was an action packed adventure, with a girl who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and a bounty hunter who was just trying to get his mark.

"Gorgeous, cocky, tough, strong - yeah, he's the real deal and the entire package."

Ryder's life has been full of death and destruction. On the run from a young age, his adult life isn't much different. He is a bounty hunter, a good one, and he has his sights on Eduardo Miguel. The cartel thug who just escaped federal custody. What he doesn't really anticipate when he goes in to get him is the captive he finds who might be more trouble than she is worth.

"Her entire presence radiates with a shining vibrant life-force."

Rachel was just a college student, she was just walking around late at night, she was just in the wrong place and witnessed something shouldn't have. She thought she was safe, until she wasn't. Being held captive by Miquel does a number on her psyche but she never loses hope. She does however loses her trust in anyone, so when she gets unexpected rescued, she does not go quietly.

The connection between these two grows but around every corner they continue to run into more trouble. Their story seems to come secondary to the danger and suspense in grand scheme of things. This was an adrenaline rush from beginning to end with a lot of things happening. Ryder has a great attitude and even while fighting bad guys manages to put a smile on your face. He has never let anyone into his inner workings but with Rachel something is different.

"I'm going to devour you."

Rachel is a strong character as well, she does not go down without a fight. She comes out kicking and screaming and does not except help easily. She is feisty with a whole sweet side that makes her really endearing.

I did miss seeing the other boys, while they make an appearance it is a short one and the connection to the other books is fairly loose. That being said, I still liked this book but it had a different feel than the others in the series so far. It kind of comes in the on the periphery of the story of the brotherhood that has been developed. I look forward to what is next from the author and this one is sure to keep you glued to the action.

HASH(0xbaabc18c) out of 5 stars Review from Abibliophobia Anonymous Book Reviews 11 December 2015

This is the third book in the Brothers of Ink and Steel series. It is a spin-off of the True North Series. Don’t worry, you don’t have to read True North first, I wish I would have, but I haven’t had a chance to read that series yet. I really want to though. You can also read this series as stand alones, they don’t need to be read in order.

This has got to be my favorite book in this series yet! The other brothers don’t play a big role in this book. Ryder is a bounty hunter and he’s been tasked to get a cartel leader back after his escape. His plans change though, once he learns that Miguel has kidnapped a witness to his crime. When he learns where she is being held, he rescues her.

Ryder is a hard a**, that’s for sure. He fought a gator and lived, and beat it! He would die for the people he cares for. He had a rough like, just like his brothers have. He has lost a lot and has closed himself off because of it. He is cursed, oh so he thinks.

He wasn’t expecting what he got with Rachel when he rescues her though.

She is feisty and fights him for most of the rescue. I can’t blame her; after what she’s gone through. She doesn’t know who she can trust, and who she can’t. So many people that were supposed to protect her, don’t and they turn on her.

I loved this story and both of these characters. Ryder may just be my new favorite brother now, sorry Josh. Can’t wait to read more!
