Arrow, gorgeous a retired marine and a Moutain Mercenary, that's pretty much a woman's dream man right there, add in his neat freak side and that he can cook a mean omelet and you have a seriously good package...lol not to mention his protective, sweet and loving nature... 'fanning myself here'
Morgan survived hell, was rescued by the man who not only changed her life by saving her but by also loving her and showing her how her strength was her greatest gift. Morgan was tough when she needed to be and vulnerable at times as well, I thought she handled herself so well whilst being held captive and even more so after being rescued.
This was a great story, Susan Stoker has a way of writing really difficult and terrifying storylines and making them compelling stories with so much heart and warmth in them even in the toughest times.
This book is about Morgan who has been through a horrific experience and is rescued by Archer 'Arrow' of the Mountain Mercenaries. Morgan was a strong character despite her recent experiences and managed to come across as both strong and fragile in the circumstances. I enjoyed her authentic reaction to the situation around her and how her recovery demonstrated her vulnerability as well as her strength. Arrow is a genuinely great guy who wants to assist Morgan through her recovery, whatever the outcome.
I felt the relationship between the characters developed naturally and both ended up questioning themselves as real people would, 'Is this too fast?' 'Is this just a reaction to the trauma?' 'Are these feelings genuine?'. The relationship felt tangible and made the story a compelling read.
I would recommend the book for anyone with several hours of free time, as you are probably going to read it in one hit! This series is wonderful and starting at book 1 would probably make the story flow better for the reader. Happy reading :)
Her writing is laid back and enjoyable and I have to admit I have definitely fallen in love with some of her characters.
Where do I find me one of these guys??

Defending Morgan is the story of Arrow & Morgan. Morgan has survived some of the worst trauma imaginable and is rescued by Arrow, who doesn't leave her side from the moment he finds her. Their story winds through the back streets and dangerous areas of the Caribbean and follows the two of them back Stateside where Morgan begins to heal and the Mountain Mercenaries unravel the clues to her kidnapping.
If you want like a great fast paced and thrilling romance with strong women and alpha males, look no further than ANY book by Susan Stoker.
Our gorgeous and compassionate hero Archer Kane "Arrow" is an ex- marine and currently a member of the Mountain Mercenaries. And on a mission to rescue a kidnapped child in the Caribbean island of Santo Domingo, he also unexpectantly and amazingly finds a captured woman. She is hugely distressed but not completely broken. And against all odds she has been found. And even looking extremely dirty, poorly dressed and unwashed he is attracted to her and fiercely wants to protect her from further harm and evil. He can see her hidden beauty and is smitten. She quickly learns to trust Arrow. But why is she there?
This woman our heroine is Morgan Byrd. And she had been missing for a whole year after being snatched one night in Atlanta. She is lucky to be found and still be alive. Yet she valiantly survived and managed to even shield the child who had been put in with her from abuse. She was resilient and did not develop Stockholm Syndrome in captivity but subsequently needed therapy to overcome PTSA.
Well, to discover who kidnapped Morgan and the reasons you will need to get your own copy of this book. You will also find out whether a meaningful relationship develops between Arrow and Morgan. But more importantly you will learn the value of never giving up hope.
