I read all sorts of genres so bdsm ones are no exception, however this book was so hard to connect with... it's not your usual Kristen Ashley book... the story line was just I don't know how to explain it... but it wasn't for me, I couldn't connect with the characters, the story line.. this series ends here for me, I actually couldn't really get through this one, found it boring in most places so I'm sure I skipped like 6-9 chapters and really didn't miss a thing, so yeah... not a book I would recommend.

I have read all of Kristen Ashley's books,I started with the Gamble which pulled me in and then onto the Rock Chicks then Colorado Mountain Men and then the rest....I LOVE her books but did not enjoy this one. She warns the reader that this explores more alternate adult themes. I struggled with the hero being an alpha sub. I just couldn't get passed a macho male being so submissive which is explained rather graphically with their sexual play. I did finish the book but doubt I will read the rest that are to come in the series.

The Deep End and The Honey series is a big departure from Kristen Ashley's sexy overprotective alpha that we have come to know and love, but hey, it is a Kristen Ashley book!

The Deep End delves into the world of BDSM, but with a twist to what we usually find - here we have a Domme, Amelie, and her alpha-sub Olivier.

I am not going to lie, I did struggle with the first half of the book. I felt that it dragged, that our lovelies were in rinse-wash-repeat mode. But the second half of the book felt a lot better.

I adored Olivier (Olly) and his struggles to come to terms with what he wants, what he needs in his life. I loved his alpha coming through, even though he isn't "topping from the bottom". I need a man like that in my life I think!

Amelie (Leigh) though, I just couldn't connect with her. Not sure what it was about her, but I couldn't warm up to her as much as I could other characters.

Ms Ashley always paints a very detailed picture for us - but maybe to me this was a little bit too wordy? But that could just me my little quirk.

Like I said, this is so completely different from anything else Ms Ashley has given us to date. But you will need to put your preconceived notions of "what is a Kristen Ashley book" aside and jump into The Deep End feet first.

Now I need the next in this series.

I have read every single Kristen Ashley book published. I have read books of hers outside my genres and areas of interest and loved them all. Her fantasy and vampire series are amazing. So although I've read a few erotica and BDSM books I've not really read a lot of alpha sub books. Be prepared for something different. A female Dom and an alpha male sub. Some hardcore kink and fetish scenes. If this isn't your thing you may not enjoy the book. I loved the relationship and how it develops. How Olivier struggles with being a man and a submissive and how society thinks of him. I love how they talk through the issues and how to make the relationship work. The author used a different writing style and pov in this book as well. I highly commend KA for going outside her comfort zone and I'm so glad I read this book. I have pre ordered the next one in the series.

Like most people I was a little anxious going into KA’s new ‘Honey’ series. Mind you, not for the BDSM element in it – I actually thoroughly enjoy reading most erotic novels. No, it was the Alpha-sub subject which left me a bit wary. An Alpha…. As a sub??? What????

One of the reasons I love reading KA is because her men are sexy as hell Alpha’s who don’t disrespect any of the women they meet and who aren’t so arrogant that they believe that they can just take what they want. Yes, they’re bossy as hell, but their bossy in a way that pushes the heroine to snap out of her ‘funk’ and accept the beauty they have around them and who they have that with. All while also having some crazy hot sex too.

So going into ‘The Deep End’ had me biting my nails. Because I was scared that, for the first time in my life, KA would disappoint me – especially when it came to the male lead.

Let me tell you, I absolutely devoured ‘The Deep End’.

I want more.

And all I envision is KA staring me down, hands on hips with a smirk on her face, an eyebrow raised at my doubt and deservedly telling me “I Told you so.”

If you’re not someone who typically reads the erotic genre of novels, I seriously urge you to still give this a good read and to go in with an open mind. However I understand that it’s not your cup of tea. I have to point out that the basis of this book is the romance and build-up of the relationship between two people. Yes there some BDSM involved, and are quite thorough in its explanation (*wink*) but they are fundamental in helping the characters develop – to better understand who they are – to themselves and each other- and accept themselves – kinks and all.
