Product Description

FBI Special Agent Colton Brady is an important person in Kalliope Winters’s life. He’s been her savior, pulling her out of the darkest of days and rescuing her from herself on more than one occasion. She trusts him implicitly, but he’s hiding something, and it may cost them their lives. A cracked serial killer obsessed with Kalli is stalking her. She’s completely unaware of this until she wakes up painfully zip-tied to a chair, severely beaten, and close to death.

Now she has to rely on Jaxxon, Colton’s twin brother, a man she’s craved since adolescence, to keep her safe. Jaxxon is moody, arrogant, and bossy as all hell. His demeanor is as lethal as his sinfully good looks and he will stop at nothing to keep his current assignment, Kalli, alive. But Jaxxon is also lying to her.

5.0 out of 5 stars suspenseful, full of action, loved it! 10 March 2016

Reviewed For I'm A Sweet And Sassy Book Whore

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive”. That quote is so fitting for Web Of Deceit, I was on the edge of my seat not knowing what would happen next and seeing secrets and deceptions come to light that you even start to question if the truth is a lie or the truth and what your reaction would be when you learn some of things that are revealed. Web Of Deceit is suspenseful, filled with action, lies secrets, sexiness, feisty females and alpha males. This book whore was in heaven and I am already itching to get my greedy little hands on the next book.

If you are a fan of suspense and action then this book is one that you must pick up. If you are a fan of a feisty as hell female and alpha males, then this is a book then you must pick up. If you are a fan of twists and turns and not knowing what you mind find out next then this is a book you must pick up. Basically what I am saying is that Web Of Deceit is a book not only worth reading but one that I highly recommend that you all read.

A thrilling, fast paced, roller coaster of a ride read that grabs you from the first page
and keeps you guessing till the last. I fell in love with Colton and Jaxxon, the gorgeous,
hot twins I wish I'd known growing up. I can't wait to see where the next book takes my
new favorite characters!

Web of Deceit is a suspense filled romance with lots of twists and turns, a crazed serial killer, plus a boatload of angst. There was a lot to like about this book, however, several things had me shaking my head.

Not wanting to give away anything, I’m not going to get into what the exact plot is or any of the twists. The main players in this web are Kalli, the heroine who is the target of a sick stalker, her best friend, Colton, an FBI agent, and his identical twin brother Jaxxon, also an agent. Kalli has had the hots for Jaxxon since she was a kid. Unfortunately, he doesn’t buy that Kalli and Colton are just extremely close best friends, and even though he wants her, he won’t go there.

I wanted to like Kalli, I really did, but she was just a huge ball of angst. I get being traumatized because her parents died, but she visited their graves twice a week and had drinks and cigars with them. I gotta say, I hope my kids love me enough to be upset if I die before my time, but if they wallow in it and act like their world has come to an end for freaking years, I will come back and haunt them. Just as I was beginning to look past this character flaw of hers and even started to like her a little, she pulled something so asinine she ended up on my top ten TSTL heroine list.

I did like Jaxxon, as long as I didn’t think too hard about how stupid it was for him to not have figured out what the true relationship between Colton and Kalli really was. It didn’t give me a lot of hope for his investigative skills as an agent. Other than that, he was hot, alpha, and grumpy. I’ll look past a lot for a good alphahole hero and Jaxxon fit that bill nicely.

The search for the serial killer provided most of the action and suspense for the book. I enjoyed this part of the book the most, but it was yet another part that I had to put my blinders on and ignore the glaringly huge plot holes, especially when all the twists are thrown in.

Overall, a decent read, but I got the sense the author was trying too hard. There was lots of unnecessary angst, and the twists that kept on coming were unrealistic, felt contrived and just didn’t work with the story, at least for me. If you like angst filled suspense books with a damsel in distress, grumpy alpha’s and don’t mind plot holes, I think you will enjoy this. There was some obvious set up for at least one if not two more books around a couple of the other characters which I’m sure will be angsty, twisty suspense filled books.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great characters and an interesting storyline! 12 March 2016

Lauren Reign is a genius when she created the character, Kalliope "Kalli" Winters. I haven't read a more entertaining, witty and funny character in a long time by the likes of Kalli. So the story starts a little shaky as I was getting used to the weird tense. I never really liked novels where the book sounds like its talking to the reader directly. It just shifts weird in my opinion from the character's thoughts to the actual actions and descriptions of the surroundings. With that being said, I'll say this, it really didn't matter in Reign's novel, Web of Deceit. The characters were THAT good.

Reign is artful in her approach to emotions in her characters and brings a realism I haven't seen in many books of its kind. Kalli is a bar owner and has major issues with relationships. Fortunately, her best friend is a Brady twin with dashing good looks and a serious FBI job and on top of that, he's her roommate. Twins, Jaxxon and Colton, both grew up with Kalli but Jaxxon seemed to stray from the two and heads to the military after school while Colton sticks with Kalli, also going to school then lands his job at the FBI with his twin brother. A killer has spotted Kalli and is relentless in his pursuit of her. Can they catch him before he gets to Kalli?

The book is called Web of Deceit for a reason as there are lots of secrets revealed, hearts broken and alliances threatened. I loved every juicy minute of it and hungrily digested this book, page by page. I felt a strange affinity for Kalli because she'd lost so much and her personality had an endearing quality, not overboard, just the right amount of moxy and bravado. Colton was the sweetest guy ever and I wished I had one, no two, actually. Unfortunately, Colton's twin, Jaxxon, is the opposite of him. Very dark, brooding and serious. It takes a lot to crack his shell and I loved that it wasn't an easy shell to crack in the book. Good call by Reign.

There were some editing issues that were evident so I couldn't five star it. Also, I found the story to lack a great ending, albeit an interesting ending for a follow-up, it still wasn't strong enough to piss me off enough to say "I need the next book NOW!". I was more like, guess the next book will explain more...chips, yes, chips sound good right now...

Even still, I can't take anything away from the glorious characters from this book and all the emotional twists and turns. Reign did a great job on this novel and with a few editing fixes (and maybe a new cover design) then it will get all the readers it desires and deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars #BRILLIANTDEBUT 11 March 2016

HOLY MOTHER OF AWESOME BATMAN! I DID NOT see this FANTASTIC story coming, and OMG I freakin' LOVED IT! Kalliope Winters is best friends with FBI Special Agent Colton Brady. They're so close it causes issues with in the relationship department with others, although they have a sibling kind of love going. The problem is he's so protective of her, that he failed to reveal the danger after her, which got her kidnapped and severally beaten. When she wakes up in the hospital, she has to rely on Jaxxon, Colton's twin, to keep her safe. He takes over her life, as they spend the majority of their time together in the same house, feelings that were dormant are quickly taking off. As the murderous stalker comes after her again, will Jaxxon be able to keep her safe before it's too late?

Web of Deceit started with a bang, and I never truly caught my breath again, as my heart was off to the races cover to cover. The character development is great, with brilliant secondaries that I loved just as much. A hands down highly suspenseful, extremely exciting, emotionally charged, and well written storyline flows effortlessly. The intense twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat the entire length of the book, and simmering below the surface chemistry EXPLODES into SCORCHIN' HOT flames of sexy scene goodness. Lauren Reign has a very talented writing style that drew me in immediately, and even after finishing, this heart pounding story has yet to let me go. Well placed humor made me laugh hard, giving me a break from the intensity that held me in its grip. The ending, however, has placed Lauren Reign on the list of authors trying to KILL ME, and frankly the next book can't come out quickly enough! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY, and you guessed it, HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!
