Product Description

FBI Special Agent Colton Brady is an important person in Kalliope Winters’s life. He’s been her savior, pulling her out of the darkest of days and rescuing her from herself on more than one occasion. She trusts him implicitly, but he’s hiding something, and it may cost them their lives. A cracked serial killer obsessed with Kalli is stalking her. She’s completely unaware of this until she wakes up painfully zip-tied to a chair, severely beaten, and close to death.

Now she has to rely on Jaxxon, Colton’s twin brother, a man she’s craved since adolescence, to keep her safe. Jaxxon is moody, arrogant, and bossy as all hell. His demeanor is as lethal as his sinfully good looks and he will stop at nothing to keep his current assignment, Kalli, alive. But Jaxxon is also lying to her.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story 26 January 2017

This is a great story with a totally unforeseen twist at the end! It would have been a 4.5 - 5.0 star read if not for the completely unbelievable reaction Kelli had to that twist. With all the lies, and deceit, that left her devastated - a simple, "that's okay but don't ever do it again" was one I couldn't for the life of me imagine any woman, no matter how in love she may be would ever have. Even the most docile woman would be shocked, hurt and carry some serious anger issues. A few more pages to allow her to work through it (and for a good deal of groveling from the other side) would have sent this story from infuriating to amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars If there were six stars this book would get all six! 11 March 2016

If there were six stars this book would get them all! What an amazing read, seriously my mind is blown. This story line keeps you on your toes and makes you want to climb inside it at the same time. The characters are so dynamic it's hard to pick a favorite, but I'll go out on a limb and say Jaxxon. Spoiler alert, Miss Reign likes to toy with your emotions also. You've been warned! Over all best suspense/ romance I've ever read, best book I've read this year! YOU HAVE TO READ THIS, NOW!

I started reading this book and didn't put it down until it was finished. I loved the characters and all of twists in the story. I can't wait for the next book so I can see what they are up to now.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing 7 January 2017

I was given an ARC of the second book in this series and liked it so much I bought the first one to fill in the gaps. Unfortunately, I didn’t like it nearly as much as the second.

Kalliope has been best friends with Colton since they were 7. When her parents are killed in an accident, she moved in with his family, which included his twin, Jaxxon. She has always had a thing for Jaxxon, but told no one.

Now both 27, their lives are busy. Colton is an FBI agent and Kalli runs her parents bar. Even though they live together, life happens, and they don’t get to spend much time together. Kalli is getting over her cheating ex, and Colton’s busy with cases.

Then, Kalli is kidnapped, Colton is killed while rescuing her and the bad guy gets away. Enter Jaxxon. He is also an FBI agent, sent in to protect her while they search for her kidnapper. Jaxxon is the stoic twin. He doesn’t smile, has a flat affect most of the time, doesn’t say much and is very hard to read. He is total alpha, over protective and still not sure Kalli and Colton’s relationship is purely platonic. As these two spend more time together, they start to sort things out. Jaxxon actually breaks out a smile or two.

I had a few issues with this story.
Kalli’s parents have been gone for 10 years yet she still makes twice a week visits to their graves? One day for each parent? Doesn’t seem plausible.

I did not like the back and forth timeline at the beginning between past and present. Thankfully, it does not continue throughout the book.

And Kalli asking Colton if he ever pretended to be Jaxxon and had sex with her? Seriously? You’ve known both of them for 20 years, best friends with him, and you don’t think you would have noticed the difference between the two?

Implantable tracking devices? Really?

LOTS of angst in this story. I feel most of it was unnecessary. Repetitive talk about how hot, built, muscley, beast like this group of FBI guys are. Some plot holes. This book sets up the next couple of books in the series.

When I read the ARCs I’m given, I expect typos because they are usually uncorrected proofs. When I buy a book, I expect it to be fully edited with one or two typos max. This book had 23 missing words/extra words, etc. in 196 pages. Way too many.
