Product Description

The highly anticipated new book in the bestselling DI Nick Dixon Crime Series.

The body of an elderly man is found in an abandoned World War Two pillbox beside the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal. With no obvious motive and no credible suspect, DI Nick Dixon starts digging into the victim’s past.

The more he digs, the deeper Dixon is drawn into a case that takes him from the cave systems beneath rural Somerset to the heart of government, and threatens to expose a military cover-up at the highest level.

Blocked by a wall of silence, Dixon must unravel a dangerous conspiracy before the killer strikes again.

I have just finished this book in the Nick Dixon series. AS with the others I loved it. The main character Nick is such a nice guy. So many of the detectives in other books are just so rude and abnoxious. Nick is down to earth has a loving relationship with both his girlfriend Jane and Monty his dog. His story lines are really interesting and keep you up all night saying I will just read the next chapter before I got to sleep. Each book is able to be read alone but best to read then in order to follow the sub plots.
I can tell the way this ended there is going to be more with Nick and Jane and all I can say is "Bring it on" - can't wait.

Damien Boyd is a real find for me. I love his style of writing and how he makes the story unfold. And I really love DI Nick Dixon. Damien's story follow a logical sequence without requiring a huge leap of logic when he has his AHA moment.

Another thing I like about this series of books is the lack of baggage in his personal life. That is one thing that can be very distracting tor me is a complicated back story for the main character.

Loved this as much as the previous books in the series. How does an event that happened in the war relate to people being murdered on Nick Dixon's patch? A man is dead, an old lady as well, and a lawyer what ties them together? It's up to Nick to find all the pieces of the puzzle and track down a killer. This book kept me up late thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was so pleased this was available via the Kindle Unlimited program. This is the sixth book in the DI Nick Dixon series and I have not read them all or any of the books in order, yet the ones I have read have been addictive. They can be each read as a stand alone. The twists in this book are incredible and I wouldn't believe anyone who says they could have worked out whodunit. Boyd is a master of suspense. The story goes:- when the body of an elderly man is found in an abandoned WW2 pillbox, DI Nick Dixon and his team are confounded as to the reason for the murder. As Dixon starts digging around he finds that the causes date back over 30 years to events that took place more than 3,500 miles away. The author uses his knowledge of the law to once create a plausible yet tight plot, and the amount of time put into the research necessary for a book of this quality has clearly paid off. As well as the central character, we have all the usual supporting cast, including the newly-promoted DS Jane Winter, pathologist Roger Poland and Dixon’s immediate superior DCI Lewis. The manner in which the layers of the plot are peeled back is both masterful and creative. Many false turns are taken but we know that in the end, DI Nick Dixon will get there. Another good story with twists and turns that keep you swiping frantically.

Fast moving , lots of twists, well thought out plot. I always enjoy these books. Although I sometimes wish the D.I. would take his Diabetes issue more seriously.
