The storyline for this one had me invested right from the get go and the pages on my Kindle flicking at high speed. Jo Allen really knows how to weave a tale and keep the reader on the edge of their seat, which is the position I found myself in through most of this one!
I enjoyed this latest case which has been masterfully plotted and presented. It is fast paced, thrilling, twisty and has plenty of red herrings thrown in along the way to keep you off the scent. When it all does come together, it does so with a bang and I loved it!
As always Jude is on his game and is such an all round great character, who carries this series and makes it worth reading. I enjoyed seeing his more vulnerable side this time round as the case becomes personal to him. The recurring and new cast play their roles well and are all brought to life so well.
I absolutely love this series and its longevity is a testament to Jo Allen’s amazing talent of bringing to the table a fresh story every time as well as memorable characters. It definitely has not overstayed its welcome and is a gift that keeps on giving! Bring on the next one!

The author has a wonderful writing style that brings the Lake District to life, and keeps you reading on late into the night.
I also enjoyed the development of the relationships between the principal characters and very much looking forward to finding out what happens to them next. Keep writing this series, Jo Allen!
