Product Description

Terrence Bailey awakes one night to find his mother-in-law standing in a corner of his bedroom.

The only problem is that his mother-in-law has been dead for seven years.
Several weeks later Terrence dies of a heart attack . . . or does he?

Josiah's nose starts twitching in a bad way when Terrence goes to the "Great Beyond" and she thinks his death has something to do with Jean Louis, an internationally-known portrait artist who has come to the Bluegrass to paint Lady Elsmere's portrait.

She just doesn't like Jean Louis and does some digging on him.  What she finds will involve Detective Goetz and almost get her daughter, Asa, shot.

Again, Josiah blames the black earth of Kentucky for spitting back secrets that should have remained buried in the dark and bloody ground.

i got the first in the series for free and then went and bought each and every one of the rest...however i do have to say that with each book the re-cap of the books prior is just too much...quit already, if a person ends up buying one of the later books the recap would spoil going back to read what comes is so detailed there is no need to read or more importantly buy the books prior...if you must refer back to the previous stories, small notes and footnote the book its from...

5.0 out of 5 stars Abigail Keam Comes Through Again!! 5 October 2014

You will not be disappointed with this latest installment of the Josiah Reynolds mystery series!! Once again Josiah is sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong, while trying to live her life on her terms, and protecting her friends and family. There's a possible new love interest (no spoilers!), and I like where the character development has gone. The story line and characters are not predictably formulaic, and Ms. Keam's style is just such a joy to read. I feel as though I'm friends with these characters. They are so down to earth and yet complex at the same time.. These stories would make an amazing television series, if they don't muck it up!

There's room for more adventure for Josiah and I look forward to her next adventure!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good installment 31 August 2016

I continue to enjoy this series, though this is not the place to start.

Josiah, and her daughter and friends, are intriguing and worth spending time with; at some point the mysteries became almost irrelevant, though they do add tension.

The hauntings here are pretty inexplicable, and don't have much to do with the overall plot. That plot is a clever one, though! I am not sure that practically, from the criminal's point of view, that the behaviors made sense, but...

Only 2 more books to go! but I am taking a bit of a break from reading them back to back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this series! 22 September 2014

Josiah Reynolds has become one of my favorite characters. She is smart, funny, nosey, difficult and caring-- perfectly imperfect! The series is well written, although I did notice a couple of editing errors, but the book was just recently released. An easy, enjoyable read. So good, I actually preordered this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not my favorite 18 September 2014

Much like the 6 books before this one, Josiah is up to her usual nosiness that gets her into trouble, this time involving stolen art. Kentucky history is typically sprinkled throughout these books, and this one seemed to have more than usual...almost as filler perhaps? The book itself seemed significantly shorter than usual, with a large chunk of space reserved for sneak peeks of two other books. However, my love for Josiah still runs strong. A love interest helped to ease the absence of two favorite main of whom I fear may be gone for good. Looking forward to the next installment that, judging by the preview, is sure to be juicy!
