Death Dancer book 2 of the Dangerous Dancer series. Valentin Aalto, gay, Finnish born American raised, is almost at the pinnacle of his young blistering career. being cast as Romeo in the upcoming Romeo and Juliet production will cement his brilliance. All that stands in his way is a man who everyone hates, Harry Hardesty. Andrew Preston, has a nose for crime, and is considered to be the best detective in his precinct. He and his partner Ilke, are tasked with solving the serial murders of young gay dancers. So far there's been 3. Andrew and Val meet and sparks fly. Val brings chaos to Andrews perfectly ordered world and Andrew brings calm to Val's flamboyant lifestyle. Then someone murders Hardesty and all fingers are pointing at Aalto. Now Andrew has to not only solve the dancer murders, and in essence protect Val, but find out who killed Hardesty when evidence hints that Val was the perpetrator. Both men also need to navigate their budding relationship. Thankfully they're not alone because Mac and Trelain make a special guest appearance and thank heavens they do. Good read, kinda annoyed me a tad that Andrew being so brilliant struggled a little with logical process connecting dots, but forgiven because the rest of the story was good, plot was solid, though I kinda half picked it a little early, though the rest became obvious because Andrew revealed it which thankfully was what us readers really want and it went to redeeming his character and profession as a great detective. I'm a huge fan of Ms Lain's work and I enjoyed this story. Wasn't as tight as the first one but still readable.
