I am already hooked and have downloaded the second book in the series and pre-ordered the third. I want to read more about the relationship between the two main characters and discover how the author will develop them in future books. The different style of writing and the lack of erotic content took a little adjustment but the narrative flowed well and the characters are interesting and portrayed with understanding and sympathy.
I did not give the book five stars as I think the writing did not flow as well as other books I have read by Kate/ Catherine but I definitely see where and how the characters of Lucy Harrington and Major Robert Kurland can be developed further. I am confident, that the second book, and the forthcoming third book in the series, will improve and that my small niggles about the writing style and total lack of any sexual content will be erased.
All in all, please read these books, if you are a fan of Ashley Gardner, CS Harris or Kate Ross. Catherine Lloyd's books offer fans of this genre another opportunity to sate their desire for murder and mystery set in the Regency period.
