Don't know how I missed this this book, by Michael Kerr, but miss it I did until now of course!
This storyline is your worst nightmare come true, totally compelling and mind blowing at the same time.
A split personality, I had never thought about or read about, until now, it's scary stuff and perfectly executed in this well thought out novel.
It hangs onto you imagination with heart stopping speed. The characters are believable well thought out and easy to relate to (well almost all - no spoilers) I think one of the great attributes of this story, is there are not dozens of characters playing with your memory, forcing you to stop and think - who was that again, where do they come in? It didn't need fillers, the author takes you on a journey of horrors that come out of the human mind! Tightly written to hold you in the grip of a genius mind so evil its off the scale!
If you like physiological thrillers that get your pulse racing and your brain in hyper drive, this book is IT!
I loved it, and highly recommend it. A bonus would be another outing for Alan, Jack and Kelly in the future!

What a read you won't be disappointed

What a book I absolutely loved it talk about nightmares and I was awake at the time. The book held me captive from start to finish it was well thought out you could relate to the characters and as for someone with a split personality phew!!! unbelievable character I'll never be able to look at teddy bears in the same light again. If you want a really good read then buy this book, you wont get any thing done as you won't be able to put it down. I've read nearly all of Mike Kerr's books and have to say I'm finding they get better and better, just started to read another one called Waiting this also has me hooked. I could read Mike's books all the time and not be disappointed definitely my kind of author, keep them coming please.

Gripping!

Michael never fails to deliver. This is a story of a split personality and it's something I've never really come across before, but the way Michael writes from Alan Beck's view, its fascinating. Kept me gripped as usual, and you will not be disappointed in this. If you've never read one of his books, you absolutely must read this one.

A great multi layered story

Wow what a book.
Stephen Leather, Mark Billingham, Simon Kernick, Ian Rankin Move over, Michael kerr has arrived.
A great multi layered story, with characters so finely drawn that you feel you can reach out and touch them. Michaels great strengths are that his story's are to some extent belivable, because he dos'nt give his hero's super human powers. Also he produces such wonderful villains, I thought Garry Noon and the wolf man were bad, then along comes Peter/ teddy to take the crown. There is also a lovely romance running through the book. I thought that the first date at London Zoo was a brilliant piece of writing. Well done Michael.

Now one of my favourite books
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 September 2016Verified Purchase
I, very rarely read a book twice, but this book is going to be an exception and it is going onto my 'To be Read Again' pile.
It features Alan Beck, a Criminal Psychologist who is asked to profile a wanted killer. It is beautifully written and has everything a really good thriller needs, gripping storyline, descriptive backgrounds, even the sex is good ;-) .
Michael Kerr just cant get any better. Would like more Alan Beck please
