I found myself both repelled and stragely attracted to Deadly Dominance. It is incredibly dark and brutal and not for those who read "mild' horror. There are graphic sex and torture scenes but Adam Reece has written these from the character Nathan's perspective so being told by someone with a warped mind is entirely understandable. Despite the horror that Nathan inflicts it is almost impossible to hate this human monster, a true credit to the author. Not many writers can pull that off (think of Hannibal Lector, charming erudite etc) There is almost a sense that Nathan is pleading for our understanding as to why he has become like this.
A brilliant, if blood soaked read.
Okay this is honestly the darkest, sickest, most disturbing story I have EVER read in my life. And I've read a lot of books. But for some reason, I was completely captivated by Nathan and his twisted inner desires.
This is definitely not a romance, it's erotic horror at it's best. When you finish reading it you won't have a case of 'the feels' or 'the warm fuzzies.' If you're anything like me, your heart will be racing, and your mind reeling. Feelings similar to what you'd experience after watch a really scary movie.
If I had to summarize what this story was like, this is the closest I could come up with. If the show Dexter and the movie Saw had a baby, Deadly Dominance would be their love child. Although Nathan makes Dexter look like a prude.
Adam thank you for introducing me to the truly DARK side. Now I need to get my hands on the sequel.

Okay. Here goes. This is an extraordinarily difficult review to write, and I debated long and hard about the rating - because I genuinely found myself engrossed in this story. But there were a few things that just remained in the back of my mind the entire time I was reading it. I'll write this review a little differently from normal.
The good bits
- Gore. Lots of gore.
- Shock factor. And it takes a lot to shock me nowadays.
- Successfully combining erotica with horror and making me incredibly confused about my reactions. Like, the awkward moment you realise you are reacting a certain way when someone's being killed in an unsettlingly erotic manner.
The bad bits
- This was too short; I wanted a slower build, and more suspense before the climax.
- I never really got to know the characters other than their utter psychopathy.
- I hate flashbacks. With a burning passion. They never fit seamlessly with the text.
- It was a little bit messy (and I'm not talking about the gore). The descriptions were sometimes pretty complex and it was difficult to grasp what was going on. There was no pacing; it was all gore and horror and bizarrely erotic sex.
The worst bit
-It really could have done with a decent proofread. I can forgive ARCs, trusting that errors will be picked up, but I do expect a little more when I purchase a book.
Overall, a crazily enjoyable, original, WTF storyline that will please fans of the pitch black genre, despite being hampered somewhat by its fast pacing, errors and underdeveloped characters.
The story is about Nathan, a guy with a dark soul and a perverse need to slaughter the ladies he "hooks up" with.
He is the type of man that would have Freud running from a room crying and he shows no mercy, he does however have an intruiging imagination, and shows us that in his "kill" methods!
Along the way he meets his biggest fan, Adrianna, who turns out to be his match made in heaven, or should that be hell?!
This book is bloody, violent, eye poppingly sadistic and seriously effed up, but I couldn't put it down! There is something about Nathan that made me keep reading. Why is he the way he is? What does he get out of his behaviour? Has he met his match in Adrianna?
If you have nerves of steel and are as curious as a cat this is a must read book, I am waiting with baited breath to see where Adam Reece and Alexia Vice take this story and what Nathan will get up to next.
Nathan's eye-opening POV was well written, and really showed the dark recesses of his mind. Brutal, evil and cruel in his work, it was really quite enthralling. The violence at times was very intense, but I'm probably one of the few readers who didn't find the violence too much. If anything, It could have gone darker.
Brilliantly done, can't wait for more.
I really enjoyed this book from start to finish it is Dark Twisted,
I really Like Nathan, he is a writer be it a sick twisted one,
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, I really can't wait to read more from Adam and Alexia.
