Easing into her writing style

I am reading these in sequence after reading her short story with Lee Child in the match up series. I bought a batch after reading first.
I like the style of first person narrative. When she is not involved in progress of an investigation the story only moves forward through contact with other characters and I am getting used to this method of creating suspense. Like Val McDermid she keeps throwing in descriptions of meals. Do not read her on an empty stomach!!!
She threw in unusual character early and hinted at why but having a massive red herring in book2 I was not sold on that until so near the end that it added to the several threads she was weaving.
Very enjoyable and a few stacked up on my Kindle for later.

Bit of a let down in my opinion.

I think that the third book of the Temp Brennan saga is a bit of a let down after 1 (really good) and 2 (ok to good). I don't have any major issue with the plot, although i didn't really find the various factions of the biker gangs that easy to follow as i thought the descriptions were a bit dry. My bigger issues were with the repetition of themes from previous books (oh look, multiple apparently disconnected events end up being totally connected... Oh look, Tempe is getting "too close" to something and is attacked/ threatened to back off.... Oh look, a friend / family relation has somehow got embroiled with the bad stuff and needs saving...). None of these themes have anything wrong with them per se, but if they are going to appear in every single Tempe Brennan book i needn't bother reading them, as i could probably predict the plot line by being told the names of the main characters...
My other issue is some of the stuff that Tempe does is totally out of character for her supposedly "all about the job, working all hours, focussed on quality and doing things properly" mentality. Who, when working on active investigations of any sort in any capacity, takes home photos and notes and leaves them lying around in a house where she has someone visiting and staying there? A visitor who brings around a journalist no less! A journalist who unsurprisingly tries to read said notes and steal photos since they were just knocking about in the kitchen! Surely if this happened in real life Tempe would be at the very least under some kind of disciplinary action? If not fired? And in the book she seems more put out by "i can't believe that journalist would go through this evidence of the case on which is probably wants to report" than " I can't believe I was so unbelievably stupid as to leave these files out for anyone to get hold of".
Those gripes aside (which as you can tell did really irritate me), it was still interesting enough to read to the end, and i'd probably give the Temp Brennan series one more go before giving up as the same plotline with different character names....

I've been a late reader to Kathy Reich's, and all I can say the first three I listened/read have been brilliantly plotted.plus I do like the narrator on this book..again ..it's a more complex book and you do need to focus on the plot more and kit was just a pain the arse and totally not needed. but still brilliant.just starting fatal voyage....

The third instalment I have read in the Temperance Brennan series and although I didn't find it as thrilling as the second one it certainly still kept my attention
