Elizabeth Corley is a superb suspense writer. Her background material is also always interesting e.g. in this case, the terrible winter weather. Good characters, wonderful storyl

Well written and excellent plot. Author creates plausible and sympathetic characters. I thoroughly recommend this series to crime novel fans.

This novel is about the search for Issie Mattias who may have run off or been abducted from an exclusive girls' boarding school with the subplot of the hunt for a serial rapist. This is a long drawn out novel which could certainly have been shortened to make the narrative more tense and the hunt more impatient but I rather enjoyed the leisurely and detailed nature of it. I think your enjoyment will rather depend on what you are looking for in a book, as shown by the varying reviews. I know that I read another of Ms Corley's book years ago but I don't remember Andrew Fenwick being so task driven and such a repellent character as he is in this book - in fact I would have to think long and hard before coming up with a protagonist I disliked as much as I disliked him. I'm sitting firmly on the fence on this book - it's ok and I enjoyed the narrative but not the protagonist whom it annoyed me to read about.

An excellent addition to an already brilliant series

I thoroughly recommend all the books in this series, if you can get them. I found some were only available on Kindle. The books are well written, good plots, good continuity, nice touches of humanity and of humour.

Good Read

I had not read anything by this author before and so did not know what to expect. I was very pleased that I had chosen this book for my kindle as it certainly kept my attention and was difficult to put down. Sometimes with thrillers it is possible to guess the ending but that was not the case with this book and it kept you hanging on and some story lines look as though they will run so hopefully there will be another book.
