This book was really fun and exciting to read and it would be great as a movie... I am a fan of Film Noir and I grew up in greater Los Angeles, so I really appreciated the very realistic portrayal of this exciting mystery placed in that setting. The characters were realistic and full of unexpected backgrounds that enriched the plot. I recommend this to anyone and everyone.

The premise sounded great, however, as I read through it, I felt that the writing was stilted and that Mr, Chronis was being paid by the word. What kind of tough guys, spies, "molls" "muscle" in the late 40's (it's supposed to be film noir) fail to use contractions? Pg 77 'You are going to ruin my reputations with the neighbors and I will probably have to move". Page 115. "No, do not do that." Page 148 "...but she really did not want to miss out on all the fun." page 193 "You cannot park that crate here". "Okay, that is where we were heading." Spelling errors: Pg 97 " ...left Jarrett not sure what he was facing and far TOO push back." Does someone need a good proofreader, as I'm available. It's a short book with large print. Like I intimated, "paid by the word." I wanted to purchase the "Sudetanland" but I think I would be equally, if not more annoyed, since this is the 2nd book in the series. I would have thought he would have gotten better with time.
