I'm going to miss Charles Paris when I plow through all the books in the series. Just discovered them, though I regularly scour the British mysteries for a new series; guess I passed by before because I don't usually care for short novels. Generally if a novel doesn't at least break the 250ish page mark, the characters are not developed enough for my taste. But these novels are different.
What fun. Impossible not to root for Charles. You just want things to look up for him, and of course we're teased with the possibility that maybe, maybe ... then something intercedes (frequently Charles himself) and - blast it - he crashes again. But he solves the murders just the same.
The writing flows wonderfully, the characters are interesting, and the stories are entertaining. What's not to like?
