Every person who ever applies to register a business should be given this book to read before completing the registration process. Dan's no-nonsense, straight to the point style gets rid of all the "fluff and hype" around starting your own business and gives you a serious dose of reality that can be sorely missing when you first come up with this "wonderful idea" of starting your own business. A great read.

It's refreshing to read a Startup book that details the tribulations the author went through - leaving no doubt in the readers mind that to fail is to learn. It's pretty clear Dan learned - a lot - and is still learning to his credit. Some great take-aways in this book, some sound advice, some solid words of caution. But most of all it was a delightful read. I read it in two sittings - not because I put it down by choice, it was hard to stop once started. Do yourself a favour, read it.

This is the first business book I have finished in quite a while. I have a lot of books on the go, but only finish reading the better ones, and Dan's is definitely one of those. Dan is honest about previous failures and mistakes, and how much he leaned from these. My business has evolved from being a badly paid job, to being a low profit small business (at least for the hours invested). It's time I look at ways of making the business more profitable, but as Dan has shown me, also focus on creating recurring income, so I will have a business I can eventually sell. Short book that is straight to the point, no fluff or filler stories. Good read!
