[Update 4: May 2, 2019]
Been a while since I've updated this, but these socks are still holding up like nothing else. Unfortunately I've stopped wearing them as often as my other Darn Toughs, but these still get some use when I need something on the lighter side. I've had these things over 5 years, and could easily see these lasting another 5, or more, with no holes.
[Update 3: February 26, 2017]
Coming up on three years of use and these are still hole-free. I no longer use these hiking since quite a bit of the cushion is gone, but they are still great for running and everyday use.
[Update 2: March 23, 2016]
All good things much come to an end... except these socks apparently. Two years in: still no holes, still torturing these on a weekly basis. That said, some of the cushion on the bottom of the sock is now gone around the arch of my foot. The main structure of the sock is holding up on the arch still, and I highly doubt a hole will develop here in the foreseeable future.
[Update 1: January 24, 2015]
These socks are still going strong. Everything in the original review is still applicable. These have been bulletproof so far. I took these on a pretty wet hike recently; I was under-dressed and freezing in wind-exposed areas, but these socks kept my feet warm up to the summit. Still highly recommend.
[Original Review: April 20, 2014]
I cannot say anything bad about these. I have a size 7.5 foot, and the small fits like a glove. The material is thinner than what I'm used to for wool socks, but it seems durable, and the warranty leaves me pretty worry free. To keep them in prime condition longer, it is recommended to wash them inside out. I also don't put them in the dryer which is probably a good decision. They have not shrunk at all, and the material is still soft to the touch.
The thermal properties of these are pretty great. They are thin, yet retain heat well when needed. I've worn these on pretty warm days as well, and they keep me nice and cool.
Another great feature is the anti-microbial property. You could probably get away with wearing these for 3+ days; thus, these would be great for light hiking.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. These are on the expensive side, though, but you truly get what you paid for. I'd recommend these for: day hiking, walking, travel, mid-distance running.
