The Darkness Remains is a dystopian zombie apocalypse story, and book 3 in The Darkness series- by Kira Adams. This book has so much packed into the story- there is plenty of action, drama, suspense, mystery, adventure and romance. The story contains some very graphic, dark, violent and disturbing imagery in parts and really should only be read by adults from 18 years of age and older.
This book picks up from where ‘Emerging from the Darkness’ finishes. A virus has swept through the population and has infected most of the humans. This virus is the catalyst for the transformation into a Zombie like creature, called a “Biter”.
Phoenix Blue has gone missing, along with the President of the United States and all the members of his staff. Cullen wakes to find her missing from his arms- and so begins a search for her- as well as looking for President Jackson and the other missing members of their small community of survivors.
As this book begins, we are thrown into the turmoil of a plane crash. Screaming and the sounds of lapping waves penetrate the fog that Phoenix has been in. She wakes confused- not knowing where she is or why she is here. She soon realises that she is hanging upside down in a wreck of an aircraft, on an Island somewhere. The handful of other passengers and her soon discover that they are not alone on the Island. The other inhabitants seem quite hostile and pose a great danger to them all.
Cullen and Ike discover that she was taken from Cullen’s bed by a guard and put onto Air Force One, to be flown to Fiji- the only remaining place that’s free from the effects of the virus. Cullen sets off to rescue her, while Ike remains behind to take care of running their small community. Will he get there in time? What else will they have to endure?

5.0 out of 5 stars In love with this 3rd book! 5 January 2017

I am a huge fan of Kira's and have read every book she has released. They are all great, but this series is my favorite. I am so in love with the characters in this series, but Phoenix and Cullens relationship is my favorite.

If you love a good action story along with a good love story, this is the series for you! It's full of surprises and twists and is easy to follow, even with the point of view jumping through the three main characters. With the way it ends, I'm expecting a 4th and cannot wait for its release!

If you haven't checked out Kira's other books, I definitely recommend them.
4.0 out of 5 stars Action packed book 23 December 2016

The Darkness Remains by Kira Adams is a post apocalyptic book set during a zombie apocalypse. This book is also part of a series. I haven't read the other books but I was able to catch up pretty quick. The main characters of this book are Phoenix and Cullen and Ike. Phoenix ends up taken hostage and then goes missing along with the president of the United States. So Cullen takes matters into his own hands and goes looking for Phoenix. There is a lot of bad and dark stuff that goes down I caution anybody who is really sensitive to proceed with caution. Phoenix survives a plane crash but her horrors don't end there. So many things go down. I don't want to give things away but this book has some crazy stuff. Once Cullen makes his way home even more crazy goes down. There is so much in this book action wise. I can say honestly there is always something going on and it was interesting from the beginning. There is a huge connection between Cullen and Phoenix and I have been rooting for them since I started reading. Their relationship is interesting because to risk everything to save someone is a real big deal. I think they are in it for the long haul. This book won't be for everyone. It is really dark. I really dig the post apocalyptic genre though so I really liked it. I have to say I really felt for the characters. I get that it's a book and the apocalypse but it seemed like one bad thing after another. I can't imagine being in a zombie apocalypse and how I would handle all of it. Anyway I really enjoyed this book and I would rate it 4 stars.
4.0 out of 5 stars The President and his family along with the love of your life and your friends are all missing ... 5 January 2017

The Darkness Remains is the third book in the Darkness Falls series by Kira Adams. This is not a standalone and should be read in order. If you don’t you will lose information on the characters and the plot. What would happen if you fell asleep one night and when you woke up the next morning, everyone was gone? The President and his family along with the love of your life and your friends are all missing and you don’t know what happened to them? The first thing you do is investigate all the possible scenarios and come to some kind of conclusion as to what happened to them all. You find friendships where you least expect them and friends become your family when needed the most. This book centers around Ike and what he does to find the president and his family alongside his new friends. When in a world where the one person you though you could trust turns out to be the wrong one, anything goes. When the world goes into an apocalypse who would you want to have your back?
Kira Adams is a fantastic writer for the apocalyptic fans. Adams knows what people want to read even if it means the world is ending in her books. Adams has an excellent plot that has developed in one book and has spread over a series of books because it isn’t enough to keep in one. The Darkness Remains had me on the edge of my seat because of wanting to know what is going to happen in the end.
4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping exciting read 26 December 2016

This is the third instalment of the fantastic series of zombie goodness from Kira Adams.
The story continues where the last book left off and continues with the rollercoaster, nail biting (biting ... he he) journey of Phoenix, Ike and Cullen. There is cannibals, trickery, deceit, mobs and zombies.
It is now starting to get a little repetitive including a scene that sounded copy and pasted from a previous book with the names changed. The ending also was a little confusing as it seems to jump in time before ending so I was scratching my head. Even so I was still gripped by the story but worry the story has explored every avenue, I don't know where the author will go with it.. but of course I've thought that about the walking dead before and that always drags me back in so who knows. As I say the story is gripping and exciting, the characters are still well developed and the story flows with great description so you experience the world as the characters do. I can't wait to read more and continue on this tense exciting journey.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing. As always. 3 January 2017

I loved Kira's books. And her Darkness series is my favourite. Cullen *sigh*. I love him. I mean I love all characters. Haha.

This part is showing us further how world is being destroyed and swamped by zombies. And how people are being people and using the situation to their advantage. Looking for easy and mostly brutal ways to be on top. To wield the power. To rule.

Kira perfectly shows how ugly people can get and how greedy they are. But also what she shows that there are always people who will try to save the rest of the world. Cullen, Ike and Phoenix are like that. For them it's important to save as many as they can. They always fight. Always find strength for others. For themselves. Doesn't matter how many times a tragedy will strike them.

I cried, cursed. Hated and loved this book at the same time. I can't wait for the next book. I'm sure it's going to be as awesome as the rest of the series.

Brilliant 5 stars.
