I first read something by Stacey Marie Brown in Such Violent Delights Anthology and I was hooked on her words.
I was drawn into this book by Ember's strange abilities, i was intrigued by the thrilling story that was unfolding, and mesmerised by the hot eye candy that graced us. But I really, really, really need to know what Ember and Eli are. This book does have a slow start to it but it does pick up with so much happening you won’t want to miss a thing.
Freak, Witch, Crazy, Schizo.
These are names that Ember Brycin is no stranger to being called, the kids at her school would constantly say them to her face. Strange things happen around Ember, whenever she gets emotional the power will flicker, fires will start and glass objects would explode. People are talking and become suspicious of her. After things go haywire at the school dance the town Sheriff Weiss and Principal Mitchell get involved, and force her to go to the juvenile facility Silverwood it seems as though Ember's luck has finally run out.
When forced to go to Silverwood where she might have to finish the rest of her high school year at, she meets a group of teenagers not quite like her but they do have one thing in common, They don't quite fit into normal society. At Silverwood she meets Eli Dragen, and is oddly drawn to him with this strong unexplained connection between them. Ember and Eli's relationship had this love/hate thing going on, but you could feel the sexual tension simmering. I can’t wait to see what is in store for them to come in the next book.
If you enjoy reading about witches, fairies, kickass heroines and broody alpha males then this is the book!
