Young witch who is also a vampire slayer goes against her mother's wishes and decides to patrol. She's Buffy, willow and faith all in one.
It's easy to follow with good characters and dialogue.
So why the three stars, too short. It's one of those series books which cost a small fortune.
Please just sell it complete for one price.
It's really frustrating when you settle into a book that promises to be a great weekend only it rains and you can't escape and have an adventure. Its really such a great start, I was just getting to know the characters then it went straight to the acknowledgements.

Ok I’m having a major wow moment right now. I just finished read ping this book and I’m still vibrating with excitement and awe at what I just read. It was incredible! There was one line that tickled me pink “ How do you enter?” “With perfect love and perfect trust” this was said upon entering a circle and instantly made me think of the movie The Craft. So ok I’m a huge paranormal romance buff and I love all things witchy and magic in movies and books and vampires are another fav and shifters hehe so this book makes me think of all my favorite books, movies and tv shows all rolled into one but obviously not their stories but all fresh and new and with a new exciting feel to a new the of paranormal romance! It’s simply put the best book I’ve read this year! Certainly got me jonesing for the next book! I mean vampires and witches it’s like the best thing ever when combined and I just didn’t want to put it down but the teenage toddlers are home on school vacation and make it difficult to read but I’m blazing with excitement! It’s a whole new style of paranormal romance that yes I think is supposed to be YA but whatever it’s the best! And it’s not overdone and Author Danielle Rose definitely blew it outta the water! I mean she needs to keep doing this! Definitely my favorite book of hers now and I want more more more hehe Ava Lopez is the main character and boy she’s a spitfire and a bit of a rebel. She’s definitely a bit reckless but she’s on a mission to keep her people safe no matter what. She’s very sure of herself and maybe a bit too big for her britches but by the end of his book I feel like she’s learned a bit and grew up a bit and is gonna be even better as this series goes on. ... and it better because I need it too! I’ve been desperate to find a new paranormal romance go to author and I have found it! I found myself laughing and gasping and having a whew that was a teen fantasy moment right there haha made me feel like a teenager with her first brush with desire and lusty thoughts hehe the words on every page flowed like magic and I could literally see the blades of green grass Ava wiped her bloody hands on. It was epic! Powerful yet engulfing read. Strong characters we got to meet in this first installment and hints of new possibilities to come. Did I mention I’m so excited for the next book yet?!

All you Paranormal, witch and vampire lovers out there alike you are going to love this new series Darkhaven Saga. Dark Secret is book one in this series. I was sucked in from the very beginning. Ava is so strong and fearless when trying to protect her coven from vampires. You feel for her loyalty and drive after she gets attacked. I love how she takes her new change in strives. Ava made one heck of a witch but brings more to being a vampire. I'm really loving Jasik. I can't wait to find out more about him and see if the sparks that him and Ava are putting off become more. I can't wait to see where this series takes us. This book is so good that I couldn't put down.

I don’t know why I waited so long to start this series! I love the storyline so much already and am so excited to see where it goes from here. I started this right before Halloween because it offered witches and vampires and I thought what better way to get through the season then in the company of the community of Darkhaven. I’m so glad I started reading this series because I found it’s incredibly well written and surprisingly extremely entertaining! Ava is only a 17 year old spirit witch, but she is charged with protecting her coven from vampires. When a ritual goes horribly wrong one night, Ava is saved by the very thing she has been fighting - a vampire! As her whole world has suddenly become everything she has always hated and fought against - how will she survive now that her coven has disowned her? Man is this book good. I’m on to the next book!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
