Product Description

The time of Odin is over. The Aesir gods now live among the humans in their bustling modern cities. Their brutal dominion over the other gods and their eradication of the entire dark elf race may have ended, but their actions have not been forgotten.

With the death of Adrian still haunting Taer's every waking breath, she dreams of getting revenge on the dark elf responsible for her brother's murder. But when the one person she's depending on to train her in the art of weaponry refuses to help, she has no other choice but to get instruction from the most unlikely of people. Driven by an undeniable desire, Taer finds herself learning more than just how to fight.

Eir, the goddess of healing, has had her spirit destroyed with the death of her twin at the hands of a deranged god. Still struggling with her loss, she is merely surviving each day. That is until a chance encounter with a human shows her that her broken heart can be mended in the simplest of ways.

Dark Desire is the second book in the Dark Series by Lauren Dawes.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd Book in Series shows Dawes Dark Series has lasting power! 28 November 2014
By Kelly Haggerty - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
After the dust has settled can Taer or Eir overcome their life altering losses? Does Odin find a way to deal with Loki without losing all including his life? Or do the Aesir have something to worry about older than themselves seeking revenge?

Dawes does it again and gives a 5 star performance in Dark Series 2. It seems this series will be one to follow. As Dawes fills in more of the worlds in and we learn more about the elves that are left in the world the plots just keep getting better. The new characters that are added are just as compelling as the first book in the series. Still, I am left wanting more in a good way. I want to know what is going to happen with the two new heroines in this novel as the series goes farther along. I am past the point of wanting and am almost at needing to know what will happen in Dark Series 3. I hope we are not left to long to find out what Dawes has in store. The book does have a little steamy love scenes in it so parents and adults uncomfortable with this, you make the choice. The rest enjoy some spicy romance. This review is short and to the point that is a great read and I highly recommend both books in the series so far and am expecting good things from the next book based on the first two.

My favorite part, who is going to want to read this book. If you like paranormal, a touch of adult in your romance, some mystery, suspense, a great series, cliffhangers, and a lot of action in your novel, go get these two novels. Then you, like me, will have to anxiously await Dark Series 3…hint, hint…Lauren Dawes

When you have characters that are well defined, a detailed plot and imaginative writing you are able to create the sequel to the Dark Series. Amazing depth of characters, a back story which doesn't overwhelm to present and a mixture of characters whom you can't help but fall in love with - and Sophie, I adored this pup! A continuation of the previous novel with new characters that are at the centre. This series is a must read for anyone who enjoys romance, fantasy, and history all combined.

This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review

This was a amazing read! Lauren Dawes is an incredible author and I couldn't put the book down for a second! I love Oden, Valkyrie's and all the myths and legends that go along with it. Lauren brought her own twist to it and really made it a worthwhile read. I really liked her twist on Loki and the role he played in this ONE, He is such a sinister and evil character and Lauren really made him stand out in this one.

My favourite part of the book was when the training with the katanas and the dream jumping was happening. This was amazing! and Lauren really did these scenes well. I loved Aubrey’s Character he and Taer were awesome together and I hope to read more about them! Mason and Eir where beyond cute in this one! and I totally cried over Sophie! it was the sadist part of the book! there is so much heartache and sadness at some parts that it makes your heart want to break.

I was a little lost at some parts at the beginning and realized that there was a first book, however it doesn't take away anything from the story itself but made me very INTERESTED to learn what came before..lol...so I went out to purchased the first book and can't wait to read it and can't wait for more to this story! if you haven't read the series I would recommend it!

Another hit! When I first read the synopsis to Dark Desire I wasn’t sure how I would like it because I fell in love with Korvain and Bryn. The good news is they were very much a part of this second installment. The bad news? Well, there isn’t any I was completely immersed in this installment from beginning to end. The focus was on Taer and Eir. These two suffered greatly in the first. Currently we follow Taer through her rage and determination to avenge her brother. Eir lost her sister in a horrific way and thus we follow her through the darkness of her grief. As much as I love Korvain and Bryn because these two really captured my heart, it was refreshing to focus on other characters. After everything that happened in the first book the second book was full of these wonderful characters moving on, adjusting and avenging. Each respective guy was absolutely delectable and perfect for the girls. I can’t wait for this series to continue I will for sure be following along with the events as they unfold.

D-arrion, sadistic and pure evil his days are numbered. Off into hiding for a time will not be enough to keep him safe forever. F-ing with the wrong Mare can bring dire consequences.
A-idan, his death is something that weighs heavily on Taer. Driven by a lust for revenge there isn’t anything she won’t do to make sure she reaches it.
R-emorse, Eir wishes things could be different but it seems her sister was destined to die and there was nothing anyone could do to change the outcome.
K-ind, Eir has always had a gentle heart love has always been her pulling force. Eir will surpass these dark times with an open heart.

D-esire, Taer will move heaven and earth to avenge her brother making sure the Mare responsible pays the ultimate price. The life of this being is inconsequential. Desire and revenge are the only things coursing through Taer’s body.
E-scape, Eir has been a nurse since the fall. Helping people has always been her calling now she needs to figure out how to help herself.
S-ingle, Loki has one wish one pull and he will do what it takes to see the all father dead by his hand.
I-rritating, Korvain wants to control each situation in his life but Taer and Eir have their own wishes and desires. Being controlled is not something they are used to therefore they will push against the grain all the while seeking what their hearts desire.
R-estrictions, Taer is unabashed in her pursuit of revenge allying herself with possible enemies is her only hope. Not wanting to ruin her chance at revenge she will take the necessary risks of trust to achieve her wishes.
E-vening, Eir has been through too much to let a simple misunderstanding interfere with what lays in her heart. Going after Mason feels right and Eir will no longer deny her feelings.

Gosh that ending was heart stopping in a very good way. So many things are left unanswered but it’s because we are set up nicely for the next book. All of the characters that I fell in love with in the first installment are there in the second. Seeing them develop was a bonus treat that was unexpected. Bravo! I cannot wait to continue with this series to see what happens. I will say Taer has skyrocketed to my favorites and I can’t wait to see more of her and Aubrey. Yikes those two are smoking! Dawes will captivate you with these books so get ready for an adventure full of anticipation and excitement with secrets and deceptions to boot.

My Rating
4.5 Shadows, Nightmares, Healing, Training, Dog, Shift, War Hammer, Dreams, Doors, Cancer, Hospital, Sushi, Fight, Sword, Doors, Ocean, Family, Passionate Redeemed filled Stars!
4.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend 23 March 2015

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review
Dark Desire takes place several weeks after Dark Deceit ends. If you haven't read the first one, then read it before this one. They should definitely be read in order.
In this book, we follow Taer and Eir as they both struggle to deal with life after their siblings' deaths. Taer is in a place where all she can think about is revenge, barely surviving otherwise. Eir is doing a bit better but still seriously grieving. They each run into someone that helps them on paths.
Taer is on a road that she feels will only end with the death of the one that killed her brother and destroyed her life. She's not happy with the pace that Korvain is training her, even though he has her best interests in mind. She's determined and driven by a drive won't end until she succeeds.
Eir is a bit better than Taer in that she's at least dealing and not drowning in a need for vengeance. When she meetings the head of security from the club, they form a bond that helps both of them to heal and maybe find happiness together.
Just like the first book, this book is well written and moves at a fast pace. The author successfully interweaves several stories within one and ends it well. She leaves it wide open for the third book to happen. Highly recommend.
