Dark Beyond The Stars is an excellent collection of scifi stories from a wide selection of authors some of which I knew of already but most of them I didn't however the style and subject matter varied wildly offering something for everyone. Like many of the anthology collections you should find a gem or two that leads you to exploring the further works of the authors and while the intent may have been to showcase the work of female authors when you get right down to it a good story is a good story and there are plenty in this collection.

I bought this book specifically because of the buzz surrounding it and the jerk who used his comment both to diss female writers and hype his own work. I was expecting some ok-ish SF but was completely blown away by the quality of the writing. Usually I stay away from books that are POD or seem POD but this was the book that made me re-evaluate that policy.
