Product Description

A HOTHEADED PRISONER

They say she's mad—made of madness, made of fire. In a cage by the sea, Flare dreams of escape. She yearns for the day when she'll flee to a place only she knows, a hidden world of mystical waters and gilded sands.

The island is calling to her. And she she won't let anyone keep her from it.

Especially not him.

A COLDHEARTED PRINCE

They say he's cruel—crowned of cruelty, as cold as ice. A prince whose gaze cuts like the incisions he administers within his lab. Jeryn has sailed beyond his kingdom for the Trade, to bargain for those wild, imprisoned fools that make his skin crawl.

By law, they're subjects meant for experimentation. And easy to despise.

One in particular. A girl seething at him from behind bars, with burning eyes and ready fists.

A MYTHICAL SHIPWRECK

But on the cusp of transport, the tide rages. That uncharted island awaits, a dark tangle of foliage where creatures slither in the mist and poisons lurk in the flora.

Stranded, the prince and prisoner must fight to survive. In this mysterious rainforest, they must band together . . . if they don't slay one another first. Or become something more to each other.

Something just as dangerous.

*Second book in a duology: same universe, different couple. Can be read as a standalone, though it's recommended to read TRICK first.*

*Mature YA: sexual content and language. Intended for readers 17 and older.*

When you finish a book crying you know you've read a good book. This was honestly just one of the most beautiful and evocative books I've read.

It was very character driven because it had to be, and the characters did hold the story up the entire way through. The island that the MCs are stuck on also felt like a character with its own quirks and personality. And there is a darling frog who would win in a Cuteness Competition against Pascal from Tangled.

It's a story about communication, personal growth, anxiety, and about a million and three other important things. All I know is that while I was reading it, it felt really relatable despite being set in a fantasy world with characters that were nothing like me - they still felt real, and broken, and beautiful. I JUST WANTED TO HUG EVERY SINGLE PERSON AND EVERY SINGLE THING AND DANCE THROUGH THE SAND!

4.0 out of 5 stars Aaaand another one! 11 August 2017

And she does it again! If you have not read any of this author's other books, I totally dare you to! Although I was not as connected with these character's as I was with the first book in the series, their story was still very real, very raw and definitely very beautiful. As another poster, it's definitely enemies to lovers actually done right.

If forbidden love and adventure filled a wonderful plot is your venture, I highly recommend reading this book. Reading the first book is not mandatory but it does have characters from the first book and provides a backstory for this one.

Natalia - I fell in love with Touch. I then fell in love with Trick and had to subscribe to you after that! As soon as I got the notification this book was out, I bought it. Please keep writing! I can't wait to read what you write next!
4.0 out of 5 stars It was not a foolish story. It was a dangerous one. 4 August 2017

This is a beautifully written story about love against the odds set in a magical island paradise. It deserves all the praise that it gets. So, why only 4 stars? I think the problem with this story, for me, is that I just love the last book too much. I fell in love with the characters in Trick and the characters in Dare weren't as captivating for me. I never felt emotionally attached to either main character and so I had a harder time being pulled into the story. That being said, it is still a great read and very worthy of the time it takes to finish it. I have been a fan of the author for years and will continue to be. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!
5.0 out of 5 stars This is such a beautiful book. Read "Trick" first 10 August 2017

This is such a beautiful book. Read "Trick" first, as it sets up more of the background this book is built off of. But this book made me laugh and cry. I almost didn't want it to be over, but was very happy with the ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great story by Jaster .... 1 August 2017

I receieved a free ARC in exchange for an honest review ....

Natalia Jaster has done it again. I have yet to be disappointed with her books, even though the stories are very different. Her world building is excellent and her descriptions are quite elaborate without being too much or over the top. Many writers tend to write very heavy prose that feels like they are thinking about what they are saying and how they are saying to the point where you want to scream at them to stop and speak plain language. Jaster uses complex descriptions and even language in a way that flows and builds the story. I didn't mind the shifting POVs and the fact that we went from a more first person narrative to third person - that's something that usually drives me batty. And I found both Flare and Jaryn to be well fleshed out and entertaining characters. Little Knight was awesome!

I went into the book thinking of it as a reworking of Shakespeare's The Tempest but I was so wrong. It was about two people shipwrecked and coming to terms with that and their own alliance as well as growing into better people. There is a lot to cover and I don't want to spoil anything, but the creatures that Jeryn and Flare encounter on the island, the way that the rain changes, and the whole approach to fools/madmen are really quite inventive. And the way that certain things loop together suprised me in a few parts.

If you haven't read the first book set in the same realm (Trick) not to worry. There is enough in Dare to ensure that you don't miss anything, although I would encourage you to read it since it's an equally good book and companion read.
