Product Description

Bestselling Author J.L. Beck brings you the next best thing in dark romance.

Dangerous ties, a love story so raw and powerful it will set your lady-bits on fire.
"I was one of New York's most dangerous criminals. She was the good girl from down the street.  I should've known what fate had planned the moment her name showed up on my kill list."
Reader Warning: Please be advised this is a dark romance. Some themes may cause triggers. 18+ Only.
He was bold, intoxicating, and held a darkness that pulled at my heartstrings.
I wanted him from the very first moment I saw him across the dance floor at the club.
She was quiet, but her eyes and body said everything her words couldn't. I didn't know who she was when I took her and made her my own. We had already crossed a dangerous line that there was no coming back from.
We were on the run. From who I didn't know, but he told me it would all be okay. That he would do whatever he could to protect me from the people that were hunting us. What I failed to see was that the monster had always been right within grabbing distance.
Now that I was a part of his world, his life, and hopefully his heart, could I survive the carnage that was about to take place?
The ties that bind us, were also the ties that would end us. I loved him, and now all that was left for me was death.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rushed and Unfinished 30 May 2016

I was drawn to the idea but it was so poorly executed that I couldn't get past halfway. This book needs serious editing and re-writing; it reads like a first draft that hasn't even been spell-checked - a bit insulting to the reader. The main character is all over the place: on the run, realising the guy she's just met is dangerous, yet within a couple of days falling in love with him - even though she's witnessed him murder someone, even though he's keeping her against her will, threatening to kill her, and she knows next to nothing about him. It's just not realistic; it feels rushed and unfinished.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not that I dont enjoy a quick read 4 April 2016

I honestly wish the book was longer. Not that I dont enjoy a quick read, I just wish there was more. It was lacking a bit in character buildup...I felt Grayson and Ellie deserved a bit more of "getting to know each other" before they "got to know each other" if you catch my drift. But all in all, the action was spot on, the sex was hot, and the twist at the end through me for a loop. I was like NOOOOO when I got to the cliffhanger and read the dreaded words "To Be Continued". Looking forward to seeing where the story goes in the next book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not For Me 6 April 2016

What the heck did I just read?!

Seems like I may be the minority here, but this story did nothing for me. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Dangerous Ties sounded promising from the blurb and I liked the premise so I picked it up since I was in the mood for this type of story. I was left utterly disappointed.

There were so many things that didn't work for me. The characters had no depth at all. The dialogue was stilted. There was no chemistry between Grayson and Ellie. I felt no connection to either of their characters. Grayson is supposedly this badass killer, yet he falls for Ellie after a few days. What attracted him to her? All I got from him was pity. Then there's Ellie. She knows that he's a cold blooded killer (he killed a guy in front of her at a club with no remorse) and has had her fair share of bad experiences with men (specifically with her father and fiance who are also like Grayson), but had no hesitation about getting involved with him?

Then there were the sex scenes which did nothing for me. I felt like they were misplaced and just added in for the sake of it. Also, there was just a lot of telling, no showing and the story and writing just didn't flow and was somewhat choppy. This story could have used more editing and proofreading as well. Furthermore, the pacing of the story was very fast and there was very little buildup. On top of that, this story ends in a motherf*cking cliffhanger. Seriously?

Wow, great book! I am saddened that it ended with a cliffhanger. Definitely not a book for the weak to read. Hurry up # 2.

A good start to a series. I enjoyed and it had me on the edge of my seat. Going into book two.
