Mandy Whyte was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand and has a 30-year career in community and international development program management working in New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, and Asia. She has degrees in development studies and social work, and a life-long interest and involvement in the addiction field. With her husband Opan, she lives between New Zealand, Indonesia and Australia. Hemi, her only son, lives in Queensland, Australia with his family.

Since Dancing on a Razor’s Edge was published, Mandy has supported many families to successfully 'bring their kids home' by using the approach that emerged from her learning and experiences while simultaneously writing the book and supporting her own severely meth-addicted son.
