I fell in love easily with both MCs in this story. They were so realistic and raw in their characters which I so rarely find this is in books today. Their struggles, their pain, all of it was beautifully depicted on every page as Damien and Bella fought for each other and their star-crossed love. This book goes deep into the 💙, dark into the mind, and is a beautiful mess of love in its purest form. Get it, you won’t regret it.

This book is worth all of the stars in the night sky. Tempest has written such a story, honestly, I am finding it hard to believe this is her debut. I found myself wrapped up in Bella and Damien’s tale to the point I couldn’t put it down. I could feel both characters pain, frustration, longing and love for one another - my heart literally ached and I had to grab tissues more than once. Bella is such a memorable heroine in this book she loves unconditionally, is so patient and kind. Damien is the broken soul - harboring so much guilt, pain and the weight of the world but loves fiercely. This book is not just a story, it’s a journey of a pair of soulmates that found their way back to one another. I applaud Tempest for writing a story with two characters that will be sticking with me from here on out.

The emotional push and pull of this novel is palpable. I was unable to put it down, because I NEEDED to know what happened next. This book is beautifully written. Touching on mental health and so many obstacles preventing a smooth path to what should have been an easy happily ever after. But even with deeply ingrained love, the road to happy is not always easily achieved. I was pushed emotionally. Some of the lines in this book are so raw and emotionally jarring, I dare your heart not to break for these characters. I was thoroughly entertained and emotionally struck, and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
I don't know what I could possibly say about this story that would do it justice but I will do my best. Damien and Bella's story wrecked me in the best possible way. I felt the emotions in this book so deeply thanks to the author's writing. Tempest has a writing style that is wholly original and all her own. It’s beautifully descriptive with a melodic quality that sometimes made the situation feel real, and sometimes as if I was in a dream; either way, I felt like I was right there. Damien, is such a beautiful, organic character. The way she described him seemed to lay his very soul right out in front of me, making me feel like he’s a real person. He seems so dark and dangerous, yet he’s sweet and beautiful and everything a young woman should expect from a guy. He was real to me, and my heart broke for him all throughout the story. For a debut novel, Tempest hit this one out of the park and straight into another universe. Bravo!!!
When I tell you that Tempest broke my heart and put it back together so many times with Damien and Bella, it's an understatement. This is not just a love story. This is a story about brokenness and knowing that in the middle of being broken and trying to put yourself back together again there is someone in the corner who is fighting your battles not for you, but with you. Bella was that fighter for Damien. They grew up together, Bella being the rich girl with the dad who didn't think Damien was good enough for her. Damien believed it, but only because of the emotional battles he was fighting on his own. He was dealing with trauma, and because he knew he had issues that he needed to work through he didn't want to involve Bella.
He didn't realize how strong Bella was until it was almost too late. These two weren't two halves trying to make a whole, and that's what I love about this story. It's about trying to get that healthy, soulful love without having to lose yourself in someone else's pain. People with pain are capable of love and should never feel like they can't be loved. They can work through the pain, and know in the end there is someone who will take them as they are. Tempest words and prose just weave into your soul, and I was weeping at the end.
