Five stars. Undeniably an exhaustive research of many aspects of the life, cultures, minds etc. in that period of the first generations of Christians...
Five stars for an immense effort and struggle that it must have been.
I know it is a fiction and a story view from the author perspective and I know too that no story as perfect as the writer wants it , it could never really contain all the aspects of the historical figure already so many centuries passed since.
Because I know, for having experienced myself, in my soul as in my flesh what is the torment of facing the contradictions of the ''learned'' rules and obligations and the condemnations from a religion for those of us who are ''different" in our sexuality; so I am hesitant to say there is some aspects that are missing as to understand a man like Paul and what could have been so extraordinary an event or a teacher for that group of men and women to be so brave as to face an ignominious death and torture...
I do not here wish that the author have been a believer of a specific credo no not at all what I am trying to say here but I think the dimension or experience that is missing in the main Characters (perhaps not yet experienced by the author, I do not know) is the mystical experience.
I know, I know, I am the reader and this book is not my creation and equally know it is quasi impossible to speak or describe a mystical experience, that one that change your life perspective forever.
I was amazed of the accuracy of the descriptions of the scenes and of the Characters being of flesh and blood , not only their passions and their emotions...
So yes I like that book very much.
