Works, But Has Some Design Issues
Reviewed in the United States on 8 October 2018Verified Purchase
I want to start this review by saying I am a HUGE fan of DeWalt tools. I own many of their corded and cordless tools and have had great success with all of them, until I purchased this unit. Since I have a full line of 20V tools, this vac was a no brainer for me to purchase. The vac does work well, and is a great size for carrying around. There are 2 major issues that are making me hate it though:
- The exhaust port is located on the same side where the suction hose comes out. The hose is not very long, so the natural way to use the vac has you blowing exhaust directly at your work area. The junk that you want to suck up can get blown around the room.
- Because of the exhaust issue, you turn the vac around and stretch the hose around the machine. Kind of annoying but not a huge deal. UNITL.... the hose breaks. The corrugated hose came unattached from the plastic end that snaps into the body of the vacuum, due to pulling on it. Once that piece breaks, good luck getting it back in permanently.
Due to these issues listed above, I would not buy this vac again, nor would I recommend it. The design is just plain stupid, and I cannot believe DeWalt let something like that go to market.

Seemed great at first until today when I started smelling something ...

We bought this vacuum four months ago for small clean up on jobs. Seemed great at first until today when I started smelling something electrical burning. Took it apart and found a smoked circuit board. Glad I didn’t buy one for everyone of my service vans.

I called Dewalt and they advise I return it to Amazon, I've done this twice already.. There must be a bad Lot of these as far as I can tell.. They told me it should not do this, so I believe it will die down the road.....

Just exchanged the 2nd unit from Amazon with another ( 3rd ) unit. I also purchased 2 new 20 volt batteries & charger.. With fully charged batteries, it would power up and immediately shut down. You have to cycle the switch off then on again to get it to start. I thought it might have been the aftermarket batteries that were Amazons Choice for 1/3rd the price of OEM batteries. So I went ahead and ordered two more 20 Volt batteries, but this time Dewalt ( for about 130 bucks.....) .. Low & behold it did not solve a dang thing.. It still shuts off, cycle the switch off then on again to get it running.. Such nice quality from Dewalt...Reviewed in the United States on 25 April 2019

Frankly I am amazed at how many people gave this high ranking. I was very excited for a cordless vac that would use the burgeoning pile of dewalt batteries I have collected over the years. What a disappointment, I had a dust buster 20 years ago that had better suction than this. What is wrong with this company? did they not even try to pick up some lint with this? what a useless piece of crap. The only good news is it was recognizably so bad that I was able to stuff it right back in the box and return it to amazon.. Good riddance. sign of the times I guess. if there was an option for negative stars I would use it.
