As someone with plenty of industry experience but relatively new to a senior leadership position in Information Security, I found Shamane's book incredibly insightful. I have been able to take numerous excerpts from the book and apply these to my security practice to help demonstrate business context and relevance. I enjoyed the broad spectrum of contributors (not just finance and tech sector) and a writing style that is approachable and humble. There is genuine value to be taken whether you are starting out in info-sec or in a senior leadership position. I will be encouraging my team to all read the book, and I encourage any aspiring information and cyber security leaders to do the same!
The Cyber Risk Leaders by Shamane Tan was the first book I read this year. I was positively surprised to see how Shamane has managed to compile such great content in a quick, easy and pleasant reading experience. The Cyber Risk Leader is an excellent reference for any Australian cybersecurity professional, and it's covering important historical and practical aspects from beginning to end. The book is full of inspirational stories from renowned CISO's fighting the battle in Australia and worldwide. I highly recommend this book, and I'm sure you'll also benefit from all insights, hints, shared experiences.
Cybersecurity landscape is ever changing, while there are many books covering technical aspects of protecting organizational information assets, this book provides insightful information from a CISOs perspective and how CISOs tackled various obstacles when they were implementing the Cybersecurity programs. The book is not limited to a specific industry or region as it contains insights from over 30 CISOs from various industries and regions. The author does explore more areas and the information is more qualitative than what we can learn from typical industry survey reports.
As a cybersecurity professional I found this book to be invaluable. Networking with our peers helps enormously in developing strategic priorities but rarely do we get the time to do it. This book solves that problem in one insightful read drawing on anecdotes and inspirational stories from some of the best leaders in the world in cybersecurity. Highly recommended.
Shamane Tan has knocked it out of the park. Shamane explores the cybersecurity village with great CISO stories that teach great lessons. It's an easy-read with a light tone ... the depth is in the insights she offers. Any CISO or aspiring-CISO will find much to learn in this exploration of CISO leadership!!
