I liked the book, I love the curvy girl storyline since I can relate to the mc's emotions. And I do like best friends lovers romances since it doesn't feel like that instant love at first sight like some books. I liked Blake's character for the most part and the fact that she had interests and that she had these underlying feelings added depth to a character.
But towards the end Blake frustrated me. I definitely get the difficulty of liking someone and not believing they genuinely like you back but Blake's dismissal of Ian's feelings and not even partially considering the fact that he isn't a player any more felt a bit immature to me.
Usually I don't mind when the mc's have lots of friends but here it just confused me a bit because I think I would've liked just a bit more description when it came to Blake's relationship with Elise and I think there was another girl in their group.

I love the steamy parts but I hate how Blake keep hating herself causing to almost miss out on Ian. That alone almost got me to stop reading. I'm not trying to put a damper on the plot but mentioning her low self esteem thru out the book got me weary.

I really liked the story up until the hero just quits being...a hero, I suppose. I’ve noticed the author tends to do that with her stories repeatedly. It’s hard to believe the hero feels the way he claims if he acts like “oh well, that’s the end.” In my opinion it almost confirms what the heroines fears are. It seems like he doesn’t care. The story ends up ruined for me at these points. The makeup ending isn’t enough to compensate for his “oh well” actions imo.

I absolutely loved this introduction to Mary E Thompson! It scared me a little how closely Blake's story was similar to my own..to the point I had a friend read this book for confirmation I wasnt projecting......she says I wasnt, its eerily similar, and then ordered the rest of the series cursing me for a new addictive author LOL

Ian, Blake's best friend's older brother, is a seemingly charming playboy. A master of one night stands but always there for Blake as a friend, the reader quickly grasps he has a thing for his curvy friend. Blake, meanwhile is carrying A LOT of baggage due to family, her shape, her ex...Ian is faced with an uphill war to get her to see their FWB is more to him then an extended one night stand. With a subcast of interesting characters (friends, other couples, etc) and a duel POV - this was a good read that again, maybe hit closer to home then I was expecting...and now my friend has gleefully taken to calling me Buttercup...check this one out! ❤
