The Surface Glide Technology takes the etched blade a step further and makes the graters sharp and more productive with its repeated grooves, grating more with less effort. Five grating surfaces: Fine for citrus zest and Parmesan, coarse for most cheeses and vegetables, ultra-Coarse for soft cheeses, slicer for a variety of vegetables.

Ps. The slide guide fancy lines don’t do a thing and the slicing blade still manages to take big chunks out of the top of whatever is being sliced.
I didn’t know it was possible, but this simple cheese grater makes me happy. All things in life should be this.
Haven’t cut my fingers yet though...

Everyone in the family has managed to cut themselves on it. It is outrageously sharp which ought to be a good thing, but no one in my house likes it. They think it doesn't grate quickly. I am just rather scared of it, having lost the skin on my knuckles by mistake. The grating surfaces feel rather flimsy and bouncy but they are razor sharp.
I am the cook in the family and I think it is a very good grater but it costs an awful lot of money. I agree with other reviews that complain about pulling off the black base. It fits a little bit too tightly on the grater which means that pulling it off risks the contents of the grater flying across the room so I don't tend to use it.
The grater has a helpful cup gauge running up the side so that you know how much you have grated.
