So picture is great, I was loving everything about it, until I had to do the firmware update (I only received this product 2 days ago so it's brand new) and now cubo will not respond, their costumer service is non existant. They do not have a phone number to contact, just a chat room which they do not respond in a timely manner (I'm still waiting for a response) . Do not waste your money. Buy a more developed product such as nanit.. We are extremely disappointed.
I really wanted to like this product but the constant problems and unreliable notifications kill it for me. So, I got the camera about 5 months ago just before the little one was born, set it up, quickly tested it and all seemed ok. The little one was born and, in the beginning, everything seemed to be working fine (with a little snag here and there but nothing major). A month or so goes by and the camera starts having trouble connecting; I restart it several times, change the resolution back and forth, and there really is no consistency, sometimes it works fine and sometimes it doesn't. I get in touch with support, explain I have 2 recent phones and they're both seeing the same problem, internet connection is good and been tested when I experience the problems as well and there's no problem there. I suggest there must a problem with their servers as either the software is not efficient or they're overloaded. Kept getting default responses about restarting the camera, making sure it's connected properly, etc, completely ignoring my assessment. Another month or so of complete garbage (now I'm out of the return period so I just try to work with it), then they send a message to everyone that they were having problems with overloading in the servers and also needed to update their firmware... really!? The next few weeks I kept getting firmware updates, during which time the camera is unusable and some of which would take several hours and I would have to restart the camera manually (without knowing if it would turn on again as the updates were obviously buggy). Lately, it seems to be finally working ok again but for how long... Also, the AI notifications are not very reliable (you take the kid out of the crib and keeps saying the baby might be covered for the next hour for example) and sometimes they come in delayed by several minutes, which deems them useless. All in all, would I buy this product again? No, I wouldn't. The concept is interesting but it's been poorly executed so far.
OK product at the discounted price, audio quality is not great and functions like a radio. Family sharing options could be more flexible eg automatically provides video access and can’t provide access to just the “cubo moments” wall. Can’t be used without wifi eg useless at locations without wifi like the cottage. Connecting to other wifi networks is difficult and has required us unpairing and resetting the device.
The set up through wifi has been a big problem since the beginning, it's not an easy click away. It took a while for the camera to sink with my app, and once it did it constantly had issues with the connection. My wifi throughout my house is quite strong, and I've had to do a company refresh on the camera multiple times and re-pair it. I'm at a point now where the camera doesn't sink anymore and I've contacted customer service who did provide instructions but unfortunately it doesn't work. I wouldn't recommend this monitor, especially for the steep price.
Our toddler kept waking up randomly and we couldn’t figure out why. Tonight after the Cubo dropped the video for the third time, I went to check on the camera.
As I stood there in the dark in my toddlers room, I watched the monitor...It was trying to reconnect at 2:30AM and because it has lost wifi signal, it had TURNED THE STATUS LIGHT BACK ON AND WAS EMITTING A BEEPING NOISE AS IT TRIED TO RECONNECT.
How many times has this happened since we got this monitor and has been waking our kid up?!?
Removed from his room immediately.
Also there were two weeks where their servers couldn’t handle the number of people using their monitors so they just didn’t work at all at night.
Amazing picture quality, was easy to set up. Came beautifully packaged and the crib mount or stand mount were great alternatives. Night light control from phone is handy and being able to clearly speak to him through the app is wonderful.
I've purchased and have been using the Cubo AI for almost 2 months. In the beginning the camera always needed to be reconnected to our home wifi. Ever since the update and tuning our router, we have not had a disconnect or reset.
Pros: Great picture quality. Night vision is clear. The app has a sleep quality tracking function. You can share the feed with others like grand parents. You can turn off the video and still have background sound. Easy to setup Cubo records video and photo capture Relatively low latency, a little more than 1 sec delay. Regular app releases tobfix bugs and improve. You can have more than 1 camera
Cons Build quality is ok. Just don't drop it. The app drains the battery of your phone pretty quickly The app is a data hog Initially frequent disconnect premium pricing
I am quite disappointed with this Camera. I bought this a little over a month ago and for the first week, it worked perfectly. I loved it. Then my camera started getting the updates. I have not had the camera work straight through one single night since. The amount of camera lag in unbelievable. Half the time you open the app wondering why you're not hearing sound, only to find out that the camera stopped working hours ago in the middle of the night! You can be watching the live video feed and it will start to skip. First a second or 2, then minutes at a time until the camera is far enough behind that you will hear the baby clearly crying before the camera will even pick up a sound and send it through. Babys' smartest safeguard? Maybe... when it decides to work...
I like the cry detection feature, danger zone feature, climate info, and face cover detection feature. It would be better if I can see my baby from my computer, and if there is a feature to play white noise from the app. I think those can be added with app update.
I’ve had this monitor for 3 months now and I like it for the most part. It detects everything it says it does, and it’s super cute. Love that it can be used for more than a crib camera as well, since it’s able to be placed on a table with the camera pointing towards the room.
My major concern is that there is a chance it can disconnect due to app or wifi problems. This happened while I was sleeping and I thankfully woke to my baby crying through a few rooms away as the app lost its connection and didn’t reconnect on its own. When you’re sleep deprived, it’s hard enough to wake from the crying through the app/monitor, let alone getting woken up from faint noises down the hall. I had to buy a cheap backup, battery operated, noise only monitor while I sleep for ease of mind. They need to have it automatically reconnect, not something you have to manually click in the app.
Another annoying thing is that it’s constantly in night vision. If I have the lights on in the nursery at night it’ll still be in night vision. If it’s daytime but the curtains are closed (still decent amount of light in the nursery), it’s in night vision mode. Not the biggest deal, but it’s nice to take some pictures or videos through the app when it’s not always in black and white. It seems like the room has to be super bright for the app to display in colour.
I have nothing to compare this monitor to, but it does a good job for the most part.
