Fantastic read.

I received a copy of this book and I voluntarily leave my review.
Jera has a newspaper thrown through her window at 4am, the guy that had done it was a walking sex dream and he offered Jera to help clean up the glass. Jera went upstairs to get her shoes and when she came back down he was gone. Jera tries to be a people pleaser and that’s sad, she is also the drummer of a band called The Red Letters and she is also still in college. Jake was the star pitcher for his college baseball team but one day he up and left it all behind. I’m not telling you anymore but this was such a wow book and I really enjoyed that there was no hard core sex scenes and sometimes I need a real story without the hard core sex even though there were a couple of hot scenes this book didn’t need all of that to tell a fantastic story. This book was a hell of a good read An un put downable book, I would like to know what happens with Jera’s band and see if they did make it but maybe that might be another book ( let’s hope ). I loved everything about this book the characters and the storyline everything! I loved this book and I know you will too, it’s very relatable to a lot of girls thinking that they aren’t good enough for anyone so that hit a note there, but no matter what people say you won’t believe them and that’s sad too. Michelle this was a fantastic book but please write another one about these characters even if it’s a couple of years on I would like to know how things truly turned out with their lives but in saying that I totally loved this book! I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

A fantastic read!

I’m new to Michelle’s work but I found this book such a different take on what is usually presented up by most authors. It’s so refreshing to read something that is so believable and yet so satifying.
A Cruel Kind of Beautiful takes you on the twisty path of rock drummer Jera as she struggles against the pressures of school, the music industry, and her own self-imposed labels. The book is filled with a rich cast of characters especially Jacob!
I don’t know anyone that could resist a guy as perfect as Jacob. He’s incredibly kind natured and so sweet despite the fact that he’s had it tough. He is beyond selfless and such a hard worker and is truly just one of those guys that will step up to any challenge - no matter the sacrifice.
You will absolutely fall in love with Jacob.
The writing is beautiful and the ending had me grinning.
If you're looking for a college/new adult romance story that not just all about sex and want something that’s totally believable then this is the book for you. It’ll take on a ride of love, loss, hope, despair, self-doubt, achievement and an amazing strength of will.

Jacob’s a young man of 20 and has siblings that he takes care of. He is enrolled in university and lost his parents in a automobile accident. He works hard has many jobs and studies he has no free time but manages the best he can.

Jera’s in university and is 21. She is in a band and sings plays drums and they are looking to get a contact. She’s struggling to keep grades up and keep the lyrics and songs coming. She has a chance at love but has issues with men.

Will they make it work? Will Jera keep running from relationships?

I personally didn’t care for this type of story. My reason is I’m older and I felt this book was a coming of age of young adulthood. There was way to many adult situations, talking of things they made me roll my eyes more then once.

SWEET, SEXY GORGEOUS READ

A gorgeous read that I didn't want to put down. I read the second book in this series first - I was so impressed that I came back to the first book to learn Jera's relationship with Jacob. Beautifully written, complex characters with plenty of chemistry, lots of heartache, and an all round fantastic read. Book two - Playing the Pauses is like a sexier older sibling which you won't be able to put down either.

This is a book for college romance lovers as well as those favouring a more musical theme. It’s also a new adult romance so there’s literally something for everyone. The story was well written and entertaining and held my interest throughout. I recommend this book! 💋

Wonderful book written by Michelle. She has a new style of writing that is not copied or found anywhere else, or by anybody else. The reader feels as if they are living the story of Jera and Jacob. Stunning work. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book, and recommend it to anyone wanting five star work.

Jacob and Jera!

Jera and two of her friends formed a band in which she is the drummer. Although her music career is going well her relationships with the opposite sex have much to be desired. A high school boyfriend has left her with doubts and a lack of self confidence and she is not sure men are worth the effort until Jacob crashes into her life.

Jacob has crashed into her life and once he meets her he is not about to leave. His patience and understanding as he gets Jera to believe in herself and her feelings is inspiring.

I liked both these characters as neither has had an easy life but together they are stronger. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

This is my first book by Michelle Hazen and will not be my last. I really liked this story “A Cruel Kind of Beautiful”. It is a really well written, enjoyable book with lovely characters Jacob & Jera who have lovely chemistry and interaction that pull you into their story. This is an Entertaining, Must Read Romance that is really worthy of your time and I would recommend it to anyone. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. This book meets all my major requirements for an easy, enjoyable read; a relatable protagonist, believable dialogue, a solid plot, and romance. The pacing complements the story perfectly, so we spend the right amount of time with each character and the world of rock and roll, without ever losing sight of the main romantic couple. What I most enjoyed about a Cruel Kind of Beautiful is how Michelle Hazen writes Jera, the main character, as a complex and evolving woman, one whom I could not help but empathize with and root for. I highly recommend this novel!
