What's not to love, a plot with three handsome brothers, a farm, and a relationship with a troubled beautiful woman. You know when a romance novel has hit the spot when you want to up sticks and go to live in their town.
I loved this third instalment of the Cross family. Owen is very gruff and to the point. Cate is jaded and still trying to get over her daughter's death. When these two begin working together sparks truly fly. These two definitely need one another but obstacles are thrown in their way but these two are nothing if not resilient. They fall in love despite trying their hardest not too. Well worth reading and I can't wait for the next instalment.

The author has said she had a steep learning curve when writing about a farm family but as someone well versed in rural life, I can tell you she's got it very right. This is the third part of a four-story arc, and so far it's my favourite. She brings together two very complicated individuals, each with many reasons to avoid intimacy, in such a way that you can't help cheering them on. Ms Kincaid's books are always able to stand completely alone, but they continue to weave a larger story; the Cross family is realistically drawn, their characters well-developed and the reader soon feels as though they actually know them. The emotional turmoil each of her characters experience evoke similar emotional experiences in the reader. Watching Owen and Cate fall in love despite their hangups is truly a pleasure.
