The Crimes of Clara Turlington Kindle Edition

In Meg Johnson’s second full length poetry collection, 'The Crimes of Clara Turlington', women break the rules and pass for good girls. As the poem 'Slugger' reveals, “I could never be / a suspect, cardigan / and pink lips.” Clara Turlington and her contemporaries are contradictions, both trouble-making thrill seekers and faultless products of their environment. “… I didn’t know / my mind would become a neon / death scene ...” (Ex’s Exit). Scandalous, yet heartfelt, 'The Crimes of Clara Turlington', is indeed a “furry pink pillow full of blood and teeth.”

A Great Addition To Your Poetry Shelf
on 10 January 2016 - Published on Amazon.com
After reading this, I decided no jury of her peers would convict Clara. It's darker in tone than "Inappropriate Sleepover," daring to express what "ought" to remain unsaid. By turns sad, creepy, horrifying, and funny, with the whimsy I loved in "Inappropriate Sleepover," I enjoyed this volume very much. Anyone who enjoys poetry. any woman who loves to read, and any reader looking for something different would love this beautifully put together book.
