This was my first book by Adriana, even though she has been on my TBR for a little while. Once I got into this story, I really loved it. It took me a little bit to wrap my head around Lances family and who was who, but thats really a background in this story for the most part.
I loved both Lance and Mariah as characters, and once you go to the heart of their personal issues and insecurities, it makes you love them even more. Mariah is one of those strong female leads who is a delight to read, and Lance is just plain cocky. But underneath it all, when you find his story, he makes you swoon even more, because of the kind of character he has.
Getting to know these guys and follow their banter was really fun, and while there are some serious issues discussed and involved in the storyline, its not written in a way that makes it too heavy. Its just right and the book is a pleasure to read.
Life is what you make it, and has blessings in disguise if you really look for them. If you're tough like these two, you can make it through anything.
I really hope to see more of these guys in the next book, because I definitely want to find out Machlan's story, and I also want to go back and read the first book. Way to start in the middle right? lol.
What a beautiful, emotional story! I could not get enough of Lance or Mariah! From the first page I knew this book was going to be good, and god was I right! The writing is exceptional, and I was made to feel every single emotion that the characters experienced. I really loved reading this story.
I fell in love with Lance right at the very start of this story. His character is so fun, yet sweet. I wish my History teacher at high school was as hot as Lance is! His backstory is heartbreaking, and it’s close to home for me! So I understand a little about what he is feeling. Mariah is just so sweet. I love that she bakes cupcakes and that Lance ‘steals’ them from her desk. This couple is just so cute together, I just love them.
The story is really quite emotional for me. I must admit I cried a couple of times. The story line is perfect and I felt everything that the characters felt. Adriana has done such a fantastic job with this book. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book in the series! I can see myself falling in love with all the boys in the Gibson family! I really hope Peck gets his own story as well!
Another amazing read from Adriana Locke! The Gibson boys series- crank is a book you can't put down!
Who knew smart was so sexy??! Funny, witty, flirty lance! He's the clown brother with a serious side and hides a secret behind all his womanising ways! Between his flirting with the librarian and naughty nurse from his dating app he's a very busy man who isn't actually getting any! Lance envies all of those around him with women in their lives and wants nothing more than to have a family of his own, for him it seems that'll never be on the cards and heavens don't mention any word that ends in -ship:)
Mariah is the librarian who daydreams of lance always but after the heartbreak of her last boyfriend she just knows lance screams good time but not long time. He drives her nuts with his cheeky smirk, good looks, ability to flirt and stealing all her baked goodies that she secretly makes for him anyway.
Handsome Lance Gibson was a charming flirt, but commitment-phobic. He was attracted to the librarian (Mariah Malarkey) at the high school where he taught History. Their interactions, however, were more the squabbling, teasing kind. But, their banter was very appealing and the warmth between them grew, as did the emotions. It freaked Lance out to find his feelings for Mariah were developing well beyond his comfort zone. Adriana created these two MCs beautifully - relatable, empathetic and seductive...just gorgeous! Yet, each one put on a show of bravado. Sweet Mariah was a beauty and a good cook, but she was spunky, too. Lance was irresistible and naughty, but there was so much more to him. Fabulous secondary characters added to the pluses in this book. Adriana's writing style was excellent and the plot was strong - delightful, touching and funny, too. While 'Craft' had an HEA, it wasn't a predictable trope and I really enjoyed the reflections made throughout the narrative. What a wonderful read!
Why did it end I was so-so… enjoying this book with its sexual tension, humor, great banter and heartfelt story that I just wanted it to keep going. I have enjoyed all the Gibson boys so far but I must say Lance is becoming my favorite and who can blame me a nerdy history teacher with issues about committing to anyone other than family. This is a friends-to-lovers story that I received as an ARC Copy of and this is my honest and voluntary review of this wonderful book. This book is a standalone novel or you can read it as part of the series. I was lovely to catch up with some of the other characters and learn more about the ones we have met before. Lance is so much more than what we got from “Crank” his layers are deeper than the playboy image he likes to portrays to all. If you have not read Adriana Locke before I urge you to give her a go if you like you ready hot and sexy with loving characters full of depth.
