Air Quality Indicator
Coway’s pollution sensor communicates indoor air quality in real-time. The colored LED lets you know how clean or dirty your indoor air is every minute of the day.
The continually operating air quality indicator senses indoor air particles and adjusts the fan speed accordingly to reduce particles.
The timer lets you schedule 1/4/8/12 hours of operation so you can set the unit for as long as you need to use it.
Filter Replacement Indicator
The filter indicator alerts you to needed filter changes.
Vital Ion System
As part of the four-stage filtration process, the bipolar ionizer generates an electrochemical reaction that reduces particles in the air.
Air Flow Control
The three fan speeds allow you to adjust the air output based on your unique air purification needs.

To compound the issue I tried contacting Coway about this with zero response. Then I tried contacting Amazon and and they had to tell me is that they couldn't help because it's already been 4 months. So now what do I do? I'm stuck $180 paperweight.
You get what you pay for. You can get cheaper air purifiers without an auto setting but if you want the auto sensing feature pay more and get a quality unit.
The addition of a few carefully placed vinyl stickers also creates the worlds largest iPod Nano (see pic)
The only issue I could say is the top location controls, not an issue unless you have cats who like to jump on everything. So I purchased a metal wire stand that allowed me to cover the above area with switches, while allowing the freedom of air coming out the rear top of the unit. But yep my cats hopped up there almost first hour or so, but stand was perfect to set it in.
Our whole apartment was pretty dust free, but since this unit was for 350 sq ft, we ordered a second one to cover the full size of our apartment which is near 800 sq ft, but it is pretty good with just one, we hope even better with 2...... it could eliminate most dusting requirements... it has made a big difference with just one.
All that said, my favorite thing about it is that it's charmingly musical, and lets you know that it's plugged in, turned on or turned off with a short set of chimes. That, coupled with its constant monitoring and occasional spinning up, gives this giant iPod shuffle a strange semblance of personality.
Everything about this machine is esthetically pleasing (I purchased the white version). Clean lines, rounded corners, and that futuristic disc front. The on / off chimes are a gentle musical tinkle rather than an ugly square wave beep.
I ordered the Coway (almost twice what I initially thought I'd pay) because of Consumer Reports reviews, for its capacity (325 square feet) and because it was reputed to be quiet. I have extra-sensitive hearing (hyperacusis), so this was another deal-maker. Even at medium speed, this is below a whisper. At lower speeds, the only way I know it's running is by the airflow and the indicator lights. It is very nearly acoustically invisible.
The packaging was impeccable. The machine was multi-wrapped to exclude any material contamination during shipment: the body was snugly wrapped, and inside, each individual filter was also in a sealed package. Instructions were thorough and user-friendly. There's no guesswork about when to change filters -- an inbuilt monitor shows how clogged the filters are, so you don't waste a new filter before it's actually needed.
I bought this machine as a result of experience with heavy wildfire smoke in the summer of 2018, figuring it would be a good investment for our changing climate and increased fire risks. I look at it as an investment that I'm very glad I made. It's not cheap, but it's worth every cent. And besides, it's nice to look at.
It's a perfect air purifier for us. My lazy self would have liked a remote control to go with it. Either than that, great product!
I have two purifiers and this one is far and away the better one... and the other one is terrific.
I am so glad I purchased this unit for our bedroom and we purchased a second unit to place on the main floor and will be purchasing a third unit to place in another area of our main floor.
I have severe allergies and asthma. We have big dogs and I constantly suffer throughout the year from my allergies.
So I did some researched and purchased two units of another brand of air purifier. Unfortunately it did not make any difference whatsoever and each unit was approximately $250. So those were returned and I am so happy that I did because it led me to this wonderful item.
Purchased two units of the Coway and we have it set to Auto. I have been able to sleep well at night because of this unit. I used to wake up from allergic reactions throughout the night like congestion or coughing from my throat itching but because of this unit I do not have any breathing issues. The unit will set its fan levels to 1-3 depending on the air quality. There is a circular light at the end of the unit that changes color depending on the air quality in the room. It's great for circulating the air as well during these winter months. I have not had to change the filter since Sept 2018 and the only thing I needed to do was vacuum the front and the filter to ensure that I remove all the dust and dirt that the unit picked up.
The unit on the main floor is great as it circulates the air and has been a lifesaver when it comes to cleaning the air of odors from when we are cooking as well as from the dogs. Since the unit is set to auto it will automatically raise the level of the fan on its own to clear the air as quick as possible.
Noise level: When the fan is at level 3 it is fairly loud when we are watching TV and it comes on the noise level is high enough that we have to turn up the TV volume higher. But it does such a quick job at clearing the air that it goes back to level 1 fairly quickly. Level 1 is very quiet you can barely hear the unit. It is usually on level 1 in auto which means it is constantly circulating air which I find is a good thing as I said to get rid of stale air in the room.
In terms of energy consumption since it is on auto I did not see a difference in our electricity bill so if anyone was concerned about that I feel that there was no difference to our electrical nothing out of the ordinary.
If you are looking an air purifier that actually makes a difference and works then this unit is for you. The price may be on the higher end but it is well worth it. When I make purchases I think of dollar per use and this unit has saved my health and lungs and my only regret is not buying it sooner.
We bought the conway hoping to help with the above.
The unit comes well packaged with an appropriate amount of packing and the filters individually wrapped.
We typically leave this in the bedroom running overnight on the Auto setting. There are three modes and in our room it mainly stays on the first mode, which is barely audible. My wife, who is a light sleeper, can sleep through the night without the unit disturbing her. I have heard once or twice through the night, the unit escalate to the second setting. You can definitely hear the fan spinning but it is not intrusive. The third, last and most powerful fan setting is definitely noisey, and not a recommended setting for peaceful slumber.
So, how does the unit perform?
Given its moderate size, subjectively I think it performs wonderful. Not having had an Air Purifier previously I can only comment on my own experience.
For the last few nights before purchase, I was waking up in the morning with my sinuses clogged and feeling slightly hung over. Since running this unit every night, at least 30 minutes before bed, I have been waking up with a clear head and more energised.
We have also run this unit in our lounge room which is a significantly larger room with the ioniser function turned on. We definitely noticed the difference, and based upon this, I am happy to recommend the product to anyone.
This doesn't seem like a common complaint so I'm likely the victim of a damaged unit (perhaps during shipping), but the when the fan was on high it was obnoxiously loud and vibrated so hard that it scooted across the floor. I had the unit in my daughters upstairs room and we could hear the vibrations downstairs with music playing and loud talking. I suspect that the fan/motor may have come out of alignment at some point during the shipping process, or perhaps it was just a defective product. Whatever the case, this thing was twice as loud as our Honewell 50250 which has a reputation for being among the loudest air purifiers.
Also, the air quality sensor seems sub par at the factory setting. I purposely dropped some dust around the unit to see if it would pick up anything and it never did. I also huffed directly into the sensor, beer breath and all, to see if I could active it. It wasn't until I adjusted to use the highest sensitivity settings that the unit finally started (quickly) picking up changes in air quality, and from that point on it had no issue switching gears when air quality degraded (like when my wife burns bacon every morning). Not a huge deal, but certainly something to be aware of.
Finally, the air quality display light on the top is way too bright (illuminating nearby walls and ceilings) and can't be turned off. This seems to be common with most, if not all air purifiers, but one has to wonder what in the world these companies are thinking given that these things are expected to run 24/7 in bedrooms, particularly for allergy sufferers. Luckily this is easy to fix if you have a small book laying around (or duct tape), but still annoying, particularly since night lights affect quality of sleep.
All that said, I'm strongly considering ordering another one and hoping that the first one that I got was just a fluke. I've spent weeks reading reviews and the test results of the Coway are very, very impressive. If not for the noise and vibration, I'd give it 4/5 stars.
This air cleaner performs wonderfully. I think the air-cleanliness sensor is a bit insensitive/gimmicky/limited though - it always reports clean even though I can see airborne particles. I didn't buy it for the sensor so I didn't deduct any points.
Speed mode 1 is sleep-quiet; if you're not a light sleeper you can probably even push speed mode 2. Speed mode 3 is high air flow and great for bringing a room under control.
Do note that although it does look like it might/should have castor wheels -- it does not.
Thank you for your patience. We do empathize with your situation, unfortunately, by using the unit in China you have voided your warranty.
We apologize, but your Coway model is only available for sale and use in the US and Canada. Please note: Using the Coway outside the US or Canada will void your warranty.
Fine print aside, I ordered directly from Coway and it was shipped to me here in China. There was no obvious disclaimer at any time that this would void the warranty. I view this as being very much in bad faith and highly inconsistent with the company's stated values and the CEO's public expressed desire to regain consumer trust in the wake of a 2016 scandal over product defects.
