I always love a book that takes a known theme (angels, demons, fae, etc) and makes it unique - and this book definitely did that. Angel's have arrived on earth, and they're not friendly, and they are only a few as well. Demons have been on earth longer, living amongst humanity (although I'm a bit unclear as to whether that was always in plain sight, or hidden until more recent years), and are now roaming freely and controlling
humans as they see fit.
In this post-apocalyptic world, Ruby is a fae in hiding, helping her human friends to survive while trying to find her sister. When she finally happens upon enough information to exchange with The Order for their help, her world turns upside down. Glamoured as a succubi, she is taken to the angel's castle where she should be able to learn their weaknesses so they can be killed. Faced with 3 deadly angels who question her identity
and motives, she must now hold her glamour and keep her wits in order to survive. What she didn't expect was an ally from an unlikely source.
The storyline is gripping, the worldbuilding very well done, and the characters unique, intriguing and complex. I loved Ruby, but surprisingly couldn't help but also like Kratos and Adonis once we got to know them.
Looking forward to the next book!

A great story

Covert Fae by C N Crawford is book 1 in the new A Spy Among the Fallen series, its also a Demons of Fire and Night novel.
Dragon shifters, Angels, succubus, fae, vampires, a lot of the mythical beings are represented in this new post apocalyptic series.
Full of intrigue and espionage, Covert Fae contains interesting mythology for the Angels and Fae and is a great introduction to this new world C N Crawford have created.
I enjoyed this story, especially the last few chapters, and am looking forward to diving into book 2.

This is a new series by C.N. Crawford, and to me it is pretty different to other books by them, however, are some similarities with this book series and the Dark
Fae FBI series. This book captivated the reader from the first chapter and kept you intrigued to continue reading all the way though. This book revolves around Ruby and her going under cover to find out intel about the angels. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors in this book and it is difficult to actually know who is good and who is bad, and the traditional line of good and bad are blurred. The men in the story are smouldering and there is a lot of tension between them and Ruby. This book seems to be setting the scene for the rest of the series and I am left with a lot of questions about what is happening that I hope are answered in the next book! This is a enchanting new world that C.N. Crawford has brought to life in this series and I am highly anticipating the next book to see where they take us next.

This story is a slow burn, a change in pace compared to the last two series I’ve read from Crawford. The tension between Ruby and the angels feels palpable, real hold your breath sort of thing, but it took a while to get there. It’s probably because this is not the usual paranormal spy novel. In fact, the spying part doesn’t kick in until halfway through the novel, but it doesn’t distract from a good read. I’m definitely going to download the next in the series.

Not your usual story about angels. Bit out of the box, really enjoyed it and about to get the next sequel.

Feisty female and brooding males...
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 January 2018Verified Purchase
I was fortunate to get an ARC. Love this new couple from CN Crawford. Feisty female and brooding males in an apocalyptic setting. I read it and started it again straight away. I love fantasy novels and CN Crawford are particularly well written. If you're a fan of authors like Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter and Jaymin Eve I think you will really enjoy this book. You do not need to read any of the other books first but there is a short prequel called Angela Death which will be well worth reading. C N Crawford have created an entire universe in which their stories take place so there are more amazing characters to read about while you wait for the sequel. I am excited to see what happens next.

Not bad but book 2 was much better, this was good enough to persuade me to get the second one, luckily
