Kallick is half Seelie far and human and has a secret. Lan is Unseelie fae and has been in and out of Kallick’s life. There path’s are entwined and this is the start of their story.
It is a great read. Fast paced, action a plenty, wonderful characters and world.
I cannot wait for the next instalment.
In saying that, the book overall storyline is good, and if another edit or two/update is done it would be an excellent 5 stars. Pre ordered book 2 in anticipation, just hope it’s edited more before being released
I read this as part of the Indie Accords Readathon which is a readathon to encourage people to read more indie. I have read a few Fae books in my time and have moved away from them as I've gotten older but this one I had to pick up.
I liked the take on this one though not a fan of the title. I understand it, and it fits with the premise, but it's too Maas-y for me.
I liked that it was set in our world, both authors are great at incorporating the fantastical with our mundane world.
This was a good first book in the series for lovers of fae YA romance. It has action from the jump, a bit of mystery and a great ensemble cast I'm looking forward to learning more about.
The mystery aspect of this is interesting and I look forward to seeing where they take this. I have theories...
I'm rating this a 3.5. I know this is only the first in the series amd there was a lot of setting up and precursors for what is to come but I think I wanted more closure or a couple of plot arcs closed off. I just wanted... more
Will definitely be continuing the series in September.
I enjoyed the concept of where the honey and ash title came from and I am excited to see where the story goes from here.
This is an enjoyable read although I must say I would’ve liked to have a POV from Lan to what he was thinking..
There was action, humour and a fierce strong lead character.
I can’t wait for the next one..

A Court of Honey and Ash (The Honey and Ice Series Book 1)
These Authors have written this book with one shared brain, I'm certain, because it's flawless!😍 We start it in the Fae world of Underhill where we meet Kallik aka Alli. She's in a trial with 30+ other orphaned or unclaimed fae. They're trying to gain their places in the Fae society after 8 years of training. Once they've all finished they have to swear an oath to Underhill, it's performed by the Seelie Court's Oracle. When Underhill shatters as Alli swears her oath, the earth shakes & all fae, Seelie & Unseelie alike, are in danger. Alli especially!!😳💥
I absolutely loved this story & it's character's. Alli & her sister from another mister Cinth, are funny together but also so loyal & honest, even when it's something hard.🙏 I loathed a few character's, they're easy to spot, trust me!😡 Faolan aka Lan, is a man with layers and I need him peeled!😂 He's super sexy, brooding & the whole forbidden thing is just so yummy.😋 Ruby is a big surprise & I think Drake has more to give.😉
This is a cross of epic & urban fantasy I'd say. There's so much scope left in the story & especially the world's these two Author's are building. I'm as drawn to that as I am the people, story, creatures & of course the magic!😍 There are secrets swirling around Alli & possibly Lan, too.😲 It ended on such a dramatic hook that I'm chomping at the bit for book #2 already. That dream though? It's got me thinking.😀🌟

I devoured A court of Honey and ash in one night and honestly I already want to read it again.
We are literally thrown straight into the action on the first page! Fighting, sweat, dragons with far too many heads and hints of a vast backstory that is going to be fun to unravel.
Kallik 'Alli' is the main character, an orphaned half fae, half human who is fighting for her place in the world and trying to figure out what her power is along the way.
The stakes are high for Alli as she is put through the absolute ringer, there are times you will be on the edge of your seat.
If you like strong leads, the kind of best friend that we all need, all things fae, and slooow burn romance then you will love this book.
The wait for book two is going to be a bit unbearable to be honest.
Alli is everything I love in a heroine, the world building and the unfolding story are everything I hoped for! Fans of both these incredible authors will thoroughly enjoy A Court of Honey and Ash. It’s a wonderful five star read 🤩
