COUNTERFEIT COWBOY by Ginny Baird
When it comes to love,
Only the heart knows for sure...

New York reporter Eve Parker is done with being a bridesmaid and ready to become a Wild West Bride. When her editorial director sends her to Wyoming to write an article on a new matchmaking service, Eve's prepared to go under cover. Little does she suspect she'll wind up under the covers with an ultra sexy cowboy. Ted Walker is handsome and charming, and oh so easy to kiss. So easy, in fact, Eve nearly forgets he's the subject of her story. When she reveals the truth, will Ted still be willing to confide? Eve's soon to learn she's not the only one keeping secrets.

Ted Walker calls Jackson Hole home. He's got wide open spaces, room to ride, and a dependable place to hang his hat. He's got a booming business besides. With males outnumbering females in these parts, he and his buddy Brian have developed foolproof algorithms for predicting ideal couples. All they have to do is sign up for a week of Wild West Brides adventures, and let the mountain air and moonlight do the rest. When one of Ted's "grooms" goes missing, it's only natural for Ted to fill in. It's just for the week, and he's never mixed business with pleasure. That was before a stunning redhead came to town. Now Ted finds his interest in Eve is more than strictly professional. But how can he be sure her summer loving is for real?

A short contemporary romance with moderate heat, approximately 50,000 words.

3.0 out of 5 stars this cowboy is no fake 19 January 2015

The heroine works for a magazine in New York. Her boss signs her up and sends her to Wyoming to write a story on a new business called Wild West Brides. I sort of feel like he wants her to do a scandal piece. She seems to be in the dark about what is really going on.

The cowboy heading up the business is all cowboy. He, however, is off-limits as all in coming brides are matched up with prospective grooms by a math/computer system. Her application is not quite the truth and her match has to leave suddenly because his child has broke her arm and needs her father. So she is left at loose ends. The boss and the writer fall for each other however, both have big secrets.

She writes her article, there are lots of hurt feelings and misunderstandings and then some good insight into their own motives. It was a cute read, a bit sexy so not for every age group and a HEA. I would recommend it for an easy read.

A young woman trying to make her break in journalism, is asked by her boss to do article on a bride finding business located in Wyoming. Her boss has her office colleague put a profile on the brides web site that is not like her in any way, but she has to follow the agenda already set up to get her story. Her intended groom is a very nice man, but unfortunately he is called away by a family emergency. She has to stay to get the story and finds her heart caught by someone totally unexpected.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable 30 April 2015

Scott is a good sport. Glenn is quite funny. Ted's parents are too comical. Bart and Lila how pathetically funny! They are crazy. I did not blame Ted for being angry and hurt, Eve crossed the line especially after promising him confidentiality. Nice story, could not put it down once I started reading. Love the characters, Ted in particular and his crazy parents! All the characters had a good disposition, something not too common on this genre. The writer kept it real and enjoyable.

Good story with interesting characters going through adventures together. A feel good read that love still exists and couples can make it work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 1 March 2015

I don't know why I continue to get drawn into these types of books. The writing is terribly immature and a waste of my favorite time, reading, unfortunately I'm the type of person that must finish a book once started but I certainly wouldn't recommend it and in fact will try to stay away from authors like these. Sorry if I sound harsh but it is what it is!
