This riveting book has a dark, twisted, unique story line with passion, danger, aggression, seduction, violence that grabs you from the start. There are lots of surprises, with very memorable characters and a cliffhanger that urges you to continue this tale with book 2.

I absolutely loved this book, it was dark and sexy and everything that I love in a book. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed this book. Well written, good pace. It was dark with elements of taboo. It reminded me of Pepper Winters Debt series.
The heroine was sweet with a strength in her love for her family. The hero was the typical rich old money type with responsibility for his family to continue its prosperity. Together they suffer with the acquisition.

Councellor (Acquisition series bk 1) by Celia Aaron.

I started reading this book thinking it was a legal story, which is was to begin with... Then, it turned 'dark'. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it, but it gripped me, and I found I just couldn't put it down. I just needed to know what happened next. Needless to say not much got done around the house, and when it was, it was done by my hubby... bless him.... Anyway, back to the novel. Its certainly provided a roller coaster of a ride for everyone involved. Must have taken some imagination and writing skills from this author to articulate the deep emotions that had to be pulled from within.
I was SO engrossed, the book ended - I couldn't believe it.. A cliff hanger. Then there was a note saying bk 2 Magnate can be purchased, but not through my Kindle, so at midnight, I had to go and boot up my computer to download bks 2 & 3... I didn't realise bk 1 wasn't a stand alone... so beware.

Dark and twisty that is oh so good

I originally bought this book to see if the author’s writing was as enjoyable in a different genre of books. I had originally read Cleat Chaser and was intrigued.
I was definitely pleasantly surprised. This book was dark and twisty in all the best possible ways. There’s something about an arrogant alpha, who is definitely in need of saving from himself. What I loved about this book is that the main female character, Stella, is stronger than the males put together.
She is set upon from all sides, abused physically and mentally, yet comes out stronger each time. She recognises her own flaws and instead of lamenting them she acknowledges and tries to rectify them.
She struggles with her situation and with her attraction to Sin Vinemont. Sin’s personality is so disparate that Stella actually calls him two different names. Sin when we see the man he once was and Vinemont when the alpha a-hole comes out to play. But what a hot, dominating a-hole he is.
I love a good, dark read and Celia Aaron doesn’t disappoint. We fall in love with all her characters for lots of different reasons. The sexy moments are off the scale hot and we are taken through a whole gambit of emotions through this read. I only have two complaints…I want more more more and that cliff-hanger nearly killed me!
You will not regret this read.

Flawlessly unfolding dark storyline.

I started to read this series unsure of what I was going to encounter. By the end of the series I have one heck of a book hangover. Let me explain:
In this first book we are introduced to Sinclair Vinemont and Stella Rousseau and into the world of the Acquisition. Set in the American South, steeped in family histories and traditions, the Acquisition is a set of trials in which Stella must compete. She is bound to Sinclair for a year and must comply with his wishes no matter what they might be.
I loved the interaction between the two main characters. I wasn't sure if I loved or hated Sin. I knew I loved Stella's fighting spirit and inner strength right from the start and I hoped that this spirit remained through all of the series.
I started reading book 2 as soon as I'd finished book 1 as I needed more.
These books do contain sex, violence and an overwhelming urge to punch someone occasionally, though that person is interchangeable throughout the course of the book.
The characters are engaging and you form attachments to them. The story line is compelling and unpredictable and the story telling itself is done flawlessly as chapters go between Sin's point of view and Stella's.

Son is a good nickname for him,he wants to be the best and it's going to be very painful for her. But are their hearts crumbling. Sinclair is the first born and it's his task to gain the lead in the games. His brother wants it too, who will Stella turn to. Oh my word what a start to a new series you will love the build up the mystery and the steamy sex.

This book was recommended to me by a friend. I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive when I read the premise but when I started reading I was soon drawn into the story and its characters.
I loved Stella. She is a strong woman who knows her weaknesses and works to correct them. Not like your usual subservient heroine.
I am not usually attracted to characters like Sinclair Vinemont but I was drawn to him. I found his darkness charismatic and addictive.
Parts of the story are very dark and made me feel very uncomfortable but they enhanced the story and it would not have worked as well without them.
The story's development is far from predictable and ended on a crucial part of the story.
An amazing read. Can't wait to read the next one.
