This isn't a textbook; it's a glorified rant. Don't waste your time.

Unfortunately I had to read this book for a class in seminary, and I'm happy I only bought the Kindle version because if I owned it, I would be tempted to burn it. MacArthur makes such sweeping generalizations against any one who holds any opposing view to him that he comes across as desperate. Though he doesn't author every chapter in this work, it's weak in its premise. Read Powlison or any other host of authors for biblical counseling.

Many sweeping generalizations, distortions, and many logical fallacies

Sad to give such a low review - hoped for substance. Read the works by the late Dave Powlison. This was like reading Fox or CNN - hyperbolic statements. God's revelation of science is good - and we must always keep focus on Him.

For non chemical orobkems. Jesus heals - Psychology and Psychiatry dont.

Excellent book in counseling biblically when the problem is not chemical but the soul. Jesus rocks! Psycology and Psychiatry don't.

Excellent read.

I was skeptical of the level of professionalism at first given MacArthur’s reputation on the subject, but found myself agreeing with everything the authors were saying.
