Negative Self Esteem Messages6 December 2011 - Published on Amazon.com
Although well intentioned, the key problem with this book (like so many others on this topic) is that the author assumes your child already has low self esteem issues (depressed, lonely, no friends, etc.) that will all be resolved with hearing aids. I would prefer the book started assuming your child has a positive self-image and not a depressed victim (i.e. I like Soccer, etc, etc, but sometimes I don't hear so well). Sadly, we decided not to read this to our child so as to avoid sending the wrong or negative message.

I recommend this book13 August 2015 - Published on Amazon.com
My 5 year old son has hearing loss and wears hearing aids. He just started mainstream kindergarten at a public school and he's the only child in the school with hearing aids. He really liked this book and asked me to read it to him several times.

It is not a regular story - each page has multiple choice question/answer and the pictures are not great. Very disappointed10 March 2018 - Published on Amazon.com
This book was not well suited for my four year old son. It is not a regular story - each page has multiple choice question/answer and the pictures are not great. Very disappointed. The cover is the best part about the book. I would return it if shipping wasn't half the cost of the book.

Wonderful story24 April 2013 - Published on Amazon.com
I read this to my nine year old and he really enjoyed it. Having a hearing aid himself he could relate to it and really appreciated the humor. One reviewer felt that it had negative stereotype messages. I beg to differ. To pretend that there are no prejudices or discrimination against physically challenged individuals is foolish. Adressing the issues in humor is a form of educating and encouraging acceptance. I highly recommend the book. I only wish the author continued writing a series on Cosmo a much endearing character.
