Product Description

Sheriff Tully Barrett never knew trouble had such a pretty face.

Brianna Dumont never knew the law could be so handsome and hardheaded.

Pampered and privileged, Brianna Dumont escapes the life she’s always known in an effort to clear her father’s good name. She arrives in Baker City, Oregon, intent on selling her father’s shares in a mine. Only the mine is a bust, her father’s partner is a crusty ol’ coot who hates women, and the sheriff in town is determined to keep her behind bars.

With good friends around him, a small ranch of his own, and a fulfilling job as sheriff, Tully Barrett loves his life. Then an exasperating woman shows up, making demands and driving him crazy. No matter how hard he tries to ignore her brains and beauty, she works her way under his skin.

Corsets and Cuffs captures the fun-loving banter of two strong-willed characters determined not to fall in love in this sweet historical romance.

I got the first book in this series (crumpets and cowpats) for free on Sunday, and by Tuesday had bought and read the other two books, including this one, and started on another of Shanna Hatfield's series. What can I say, I'm hooked! As a history blogger I love well researched fiction and the chance to immerse myself in another time, and the addition of a bit of romance, strong female characters and a handsome man or two seals the deal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my Shanna had me laughing and trying hard to put the book down to sleep but I just couldn't 17 May 2016

Oh my, Shanna Hatfield has really written a fantastic story in Tully's and Brianna's story. Of course all her books have been fantastic and I have loved every one of them. Baker City Brides is one of the best series I have read. The first two were fantastic, but this one may be my favorite of the three so far.
Imagine a well loved sheriff who is kind and gentle and loved by most and then a well refined eastern woman who has to escape to Baker City who is feisty, intelligent and who can rile the sheriff like no one else and you have a story of awesome characters, both with complex characteristics who are like water and fire, there is no way they can mix.
They both can deal out the best and the sheriff who loves to tease his friends and pull pranks, our refined lady gets so riled and he can get so angry with her that his deputies just stare at him like he is someone totally different.
So how can these two who are so different ever see what is truly about the other and end up in love???? That is question and why you need to read this book. It will have you laughing, putting your hand to your mouth with an "O" hidden, you see unbelievable behavior in the fine sheriff who his friends think he has lost this mine, the whit, the fun, the mysterious reasons Brianna came to Baker City, theft of her bag which holds many of the secrets why she is there and more, Tully with the things he says to Brianna and why she slaps him as he is riling her so badly and his uncouth behavior. There is just so much going on that you can't to finish it so you just can't put it down.
This is a highly recommended book and if you want the back stories and more fun adventure start with Crumpets and Cowpies. That title alone made me buy that book, the first of Shanna Hatfield's stories I had read and loved it so much I just couldn't stop laughing or put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet historical romance that is definitely on the wild and woolly side 20 May 2016

Life is good for Sheriff Tully Barrett who has the respect and admiration of the citizens of Baker City, Oregon. That is until high-bred-blue-blooded Miss Briana Dumont arrives from Rhode Island to turn his life upside down. She is checking on the gold mine her late father partnered in and runs a-foul of the good sheriff which lands her in the Baker City jail more than once! It seems Miss Dumont is not used to what she considers the rough-around-the-edges teasing of Tully. Likewise he is not at all used to what he considers being totally disrespected by the haughty Briana. One thing is for certain though. The approach-avoidance attraction between them is immediate and unmistakable. So much more than a "sweet western romance," things come up missing all over town, including Miss Dumont's personal luggage, the contents which the young lady refuses to divulge to the handsome sheriff. Suspicious of the lady's motives, the more Tully Barrett digs into her predicament the more the mystery of why she is in Baker City at all. It seems someone sinister has crept into town and the lovely Miss Dumont's life may be in danger. As is the author's style, all of the well-loved characters in the previous Baker City Brides collection make appearances in this one. Not many writers can match Shanna Hatfield's handling of two people as they fall truly in love for the first time. By the way, how is it that Tully refers to Briana as "Fred?" Who is the little boy called "Sammy" and how is he enmeshed in the mystery surrounding Miss Dumont? This one is wild and woolly as well as sweet and historical. It can be read as a stand-alone but why when there is so much more entertainment in reading the entire series?
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Romance! 28 July 2016

Corsets and Cuffs by Shanna Hatfield is a fun read. Proper lady from the East, Brianna arrives in town only to have her carpetbag stolen. Since her future rests on the contents stowed in the bag, she is adamant the sheriff find her possessions. But Sheriff Tully is none too happy to be pulled away from a celebration to track down what he's led to believe is a pile of corsets. Sparks fly between these two right from the start as Tully innocently embarrasses Brianna with his outlandish comments and Brianna tries to make him look the fool, when deep down, both are smitten with the other.

I loved Tully. He is totally clueless when it comes to knowing his own heart and women, and honestly doesn't know his gruff mannerisms and odd sense of humor anger and fluster a woman simultaneously. If he did, he wouldn't have hauled Brianna to jail when she slapped his face for being crude. But then, watching her simmer behind bars is fun, because it leads to her exacting simple revenge, and to the two of them falling in love. Toss in a villain intent on seeing his plans succeed and Sam, a child who appears at all the right times, and Ms. Hatfield's Corset and Cuffs will tug at your heartstrings, make you giggle, and have you cheering for a Happy Ever After.
5.0 out of 5 stars Romance, Laugh Out Loud Conversations, and Mystery! Definitely a must read!!!! 13 May 2016

I absolutely loved this book!!! Every time I read a book by Shanna, I struggle to put it down, and this book was no different! Shanna is a master at creating characters that seem more like friends by the time you finish their story, which makes each new book in a series that much better, because you get to "catch up" with your favorite characters from the previous books.
I was thrilled to step back into Baker City and find out just what was happening with Sheriff Tully Barrett. He has been a favorite of mine in this series from the start. I love his witty personality and knack for finding and/or providing humor in almost any situation. Tully always seems in control of the situation, until he meets his match in Brianna Dumont. She is intelligent, classy, independent, and quite talented at the witty comebacks. The conversations between Tully and Brianna had me laughing out loud from the beginning.
This book had everything from love between two very strong willed people to a child who steals your heart to mystery with some very unexpected events along the way. Shanna has written another book that has left me counting down the days until the next one is released!
5.0 out of 5 stars How Do You Like Your Steak? 17 May 2016

Imagine a thick and juicy steak just dropped into a hot fry pan and you've got the visual of what's in store for you in this book. Our Baker City Sheriff meets his match and then some when a very prim and proper (and quite strong-willed) young woman has her suitcase snatched shortly after she gets off the train and proceeds to disrupt his life from that point on. The banter and barbs uttered between the two are the laugh-out-loud seasoning that keep things sizzling and popping throughout. There are a couple of mysteries layered within the story that will keep you guessing right up to the very end as well as a new character introduced that I'm sure we'll get to know better in future books. And you'll get the related links to Shanna's research for our further study as well as a recipe of something that was presented in the story (it's like the cherry on top of the hot fudge sundae to me). I'm so looking forward to the next book in this Baker City Brides series.
