'Corridors of My Mind' takes your breath away. It’s like peeking into an intensely private journal and reading all the innermost thoughts of someone enduring dreadful physical and mental torture, and penetrating to the depths of their soul.
Angel Chadwick has written a series of lyrical poems that are raw, emotional and unrelenting in their honesty. No stone is unturned as she delves into hurt, suffering, violence, loss, trust, damage, God, death and suicide. Her writing encompasses so many states of human suffering that it is impossible not to be touched or to find lines that sing and personally resonate, and throughout you can’t ignore the writer who is struggling to be seen, heard and recognised.
Angel’s writing style is direct, often lyrical, and always unflinching. Glimpses of an overarching story are conveyed through the poetry. Initially it is about loss, domestic violence and suffering. As the poetry progresses you get the feeling the speaker is trying to keep afloat through a tidal wave of depression with brief glimpses of a spirited fight back.
I would love to read a fictional novel by Angel that exploits all her skills, passion and creativity and for her to pour it into a story that could be a best seller.
