Third book in James Maxwell's Shifting Tides series and I Ioved it! Best book in the series so far.
Maxwell seems to do an odd thing with his 4-book series; they're almost two series in one. I found when reading the Enchantress series that after two books, there is a huge breath, I was a little confused why there were more books, he seemed done. The same happened here (though to a lesser extent, he's obviously refined it a little bit), but I'm so glad the series continued.
Maxwell has really dug into his character development in this book and also brought out the true 'fantasy' elements of the story. I love that it's not all about the romance - in fact that is really a minor subplot. The addition of the new characters was fantastic, they were introduced briefly in book two, but seemed a touch out of place there. They've now really come into their own story and were the driving force behind the main plot in this book.
I have actually already read book four in the series, Iron Will, as I write this and I say to you, keep reading!! 100% worth it!
Have read all three books in the series and loved being back in a simpler time where relationships and loyalties were so important. Loved the character development and dependence on one another without the independent hero style. Looking forward to the next one to see how the relationships develop.
James Maxwell continues the story of Dion's struggles and with the help of his friends he survives but at a great cost. Again this book was very well written which makes it so easy to read and enjoy. I am looking forward to Iron Will
