so i thought i would read the cookbook to see what tasty treats there are and some input as to what each book may be about in the upcoming book come in may of this year . and i have to say i like a few of the tasty treats i want to try liking the potato soup though i am the only one in the house who would like it lol . but the peanut butter treat almost 4 out of 5 would love it . and maybe the pineapple apricot may be something may like too and the chocolate cake hmm maybe smiles . so now i am hungry for all of this and no real way to ,make them due to lack of what is needed lol . but i think i will enjoy reading summer heat already ARC read Jackie Ivie's the Hunted . and loved it and can't wait to read more .
Mainly recipes that ran the gamut including appetizers to desserts to main dishes. Typical recipes with some good, others everyday and some packaged ingredients; something for everyone. Easy recipes for any level.
With the Bacon-wrapped Dates, I used goat cheese with chopped almonds and finely minced jalapeno to cut some of the sweetness of the dates and partially cooked the bacon before wrapping and baking.
With the Green Tea poached salmon, I added finely minced habanero to the salsa and lime instead of lemon and served with mixed baby spring greens. Being a Texan, the Tex-Mex Dip recipe looked Yankee. There are better recipes. Same goes for the Special Guacamole Dip - it isn't special.
The White Chocolate Cherry Scones were good without the powdered sugar glaze.
With the Zippy Lemonade, I removed the pith, too, and used 4 each lemons and limes and half the sugar. I don't care for sweet.
The Salmon Cakes (Patties) were good and I did add some habanero.
3.0 out of 5 starsJust a so so cookbook with no pics and no organizational order

This is a hodge podge of recipes with no particular order. They have desserts, soups and main dishes all mixed together. In addition there are ZERO PICS to illustrate the recipes. Go to any bookstore and see if you can find cookbooks witthout pics. From the cover, I mistakenly thought that this book would be about grilling recipes but that was not the case. They give portions but no nutritional info which are common in newer cookbooks because our country is starting to adress the problem with being overweight.

Cooking with the Authors of Summer Heat by Caridad Pineiro Cookbook starts out with a table of contents, intro and listing of recipes in no particular order and the authors names. Each recipe has a title and tells you what book it came from and the author's name. A summary of the dish in the story and tips. A list of ingredients and how to make it. There are no pictures and no nutritional information. Like the book parts more than the recipes because there are no pictures. Novellas in the Summer Heat collection are noted at the end.
What a great idea ! This free book, is so enjoyable. There are several yummy looking recipes that I am anxious to try. Plus, it gives us a little idea of what each book in Summer Heat is about and includes a recipe from the story. I love this idea. Each author adds a little bit about themselves or their story...it's like a little "appetizer" about each book. It includes a nice variety of recipes to try and I've started making my grocery list for the ingredients. I'm anxious to read all of the stories in Summer Heat now.
