Branson Wellington? The name, my name, is usually followed by f*cking prick or self-serving bastard, and I can't say I haven't earned those titles. It's true. I'm not the good guy. I'm not the boy next door. I'm definitely not your Prince f*cking Charming. Not even close.

And I never wanted to be. Until her. The day I pulled her from the wreckage was the day that my life changed.

Who would have thought that one little lie had the power to throw two lives so off course?

Love has never been in the cards for me, but now that she’s here, I have no idea how I’m ever going to let her go. Even if I don’t deserve her.

Because like I said, I’m a self-serving bastard and some things never change.

**While this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone novel.

So everyone that knew of Branson loved to hate him but by about chapter 4 of this book you'll find yourself on team Branson and wishing him all the happiness in the world. I love the characters in this series and the relationships they have with one another. I'll admit I wanted to strangle Tessa about a third into the book as I was hoping for something to happen and then I spent all night up reading the entire book waiting and hoping for that something to occur, which it did but at about 93% in hahahaha. Can't wait for more in this series.

I met Branson Wellington in Combust and honestly I thought he was a pretty big tool. I mean he stole his brother’s girlfriend and married her, and then he turned into a self-centered drunk. So yeah, needless to say I wasn’t a Branson fan. I am however a Tessa Teevan fan, so I was on board for the crazy that Conflagration would bring.

The story begins with us meeting Ariana Covington. She is engaged to be married when she overhears a conversation with her fiancé, and decides this isn’t the life she wants. She is more then a trophy wife, she wants to be loved, to be someone’s equal. She decides to runaway, with no plan she drives from Atlanta to Tennessee. Her road trip is halted when she is involved in a horrible car accident in Nashville, TN. Trapped in the car she is preparing for this to be the end, until a man comes to rescue her, a man she knows.

Branson doesn’t usually do the right thing, but he is trying to be a better man and he can’t just leave a women in a car to burn to death. Once he determines he is going to save the girl, he puts everything into saving her. When he makes eye contact it is like he knows her, but can’t remember where or how he would.

As it turns out the two of them met months ago in Atlanta, and during that one night they changed each other’s lives…gave each other hope.

If you don’t want anyone else to give up on you, you can’t give up on yourself…

Branson is able to rescue Ari, but as a result both are injured when the car blows up. Ari wakes up at the hospital and is anxious to see how Branson is, but they will only release information to family, looking down at her engagement ring Ari gets the idea to say she is engaged. Her plan is just to make sure he is okay and then leave. Things blow up when his entire family comes and catches her in the act of pretending to be his fiancé.

So, why would these two continue this charade? Well, for starts Ari is on the run and now that she doesn’t have a vehicle she has nowhere to go. She also remembers Branson from the one night they met and wants to help him, hell she owes him after he saved her life. Despite Branson coming off as a complete tool, he cares about what his family thinks, and wants to make them proud of him.

They decide to enter into their fake engagement/relationship, but of course things get messy when they are forced to live together to help Branson rehabilitate. Once Branson and Ari begin living together things get pretty heated. They have a lot of chemistry and it isn’t long until they are sleeping together, and developing real feelings.

I absolutely loved these two together. They are paired up perfectly. Ari is the exact opposite of Branson’s ex Megan, she is carefree, loving, protective and Branson is the opposite of Ari’s ex and wants her to be his equal. Even while these two had a pretend relationship, we didn’t get any insta-love. The couple’s feelings developed over time and it made complete sense figuring the amount of time they spent together. Branson made a total transformation in my mind, and I seriously love him! He is dominating, but also loving, funny, and protective.

As always I have to report back on the steam factor and it was super hot. I love me a dirty talker, and Branson didn’t disappoint. Conflagration just goes to show the Wellington brothers get better with age.

“This is crazy. This is real. This is love. This is my new life. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

5.0 out of 5 stars There's something about these Wellington men!!! Amazing! 29 October 2014
By Tiffany Williams - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
" that moment, I don't care about myself. I'd give my life for this beautiful, familiar stranger."

Branson Wellington.
Just saying that name could make a lot of people upset.
You see, Branson hasn't been a good guy in the past.
He has hurt people, lied, and been plain awful.
But now it's his turn to tell his story.
And it's a story you need to hear.

Ariana Covington.
The first time she laid eyes on Branson she knew she would never forget him.
One look into his eyes told her a million words he could never express.
Now, they have been brought together again, and under not so great circumstances.
How can she make him see the beautiful person that's lost inside?
The person he doesn't even remember.

"If you don't want anyone else to give up on you, you can't give up on yourself."

Faking it.
Sometimes you have to pretend just to ignore the feelings.
When Branson and Ari fall into a crazy lie, the best thing they can do it just go with it.
But what if that lie really is the truth that just hasn't been realized yet?

"I want to know if this is real or fake. Because it sure as hell feels real. And if it's not, then I need to jump ship, because if I stay in limbo, I'm going to drown and I don't think Branson will be there to save me this time. No, not when he's the one pulling me underwater."

No more hiding.
As Ari is breaking down all of Branson's walls, she doesn't see her own past catching up to her.
She tried to run away, but secrets don't always stay quiet.
It's Branson's turn to stand up for them.
Stand up for the love he never thought himself worthy of.

"She once called me her savior, and yeah, I may have pulled her out of that burning car, but Ariana saved me from myself, my past, and the lonely future I was barreling towards."

Breaking Walls.
Seeing Branson's transformation and Ariana's strong will was amazing!
These two characters could not be more different, yet more the same. Trust me! From those amazing first pages, you, NEEDED these two together.
They both were escaping the past that lead to the unhappiness they were living.
They completed each other.
They were the puzzle pieces they never knew they were missing, and yet,
they the kept denying it.

"I know exactly what I'm giving up, and it's not much.
What I'm gaining? It's unmeasurable and more than I could ask for."

Let me tell you...Good lawd! That first kiss was enough to bring in the fire hose!
That was one thing that they had no issue with. Tessa knows how to write amazing sexy time scenes;)
*Continues to fan self after reading again*
"I'm about five seconds away from channeling The Temptations, because this girl sure as hell ain't to proud to beg."
That line had me cracking up! I think what made them so good was they were trying so hard not to like each other, that it made them more attractive to each other.
And, boy, could you feel it!

Can I just say...I want to come to Sunday brunch so I can sit around looking at these HAWT Wellington men!! Geez Louise!
I think I was most emotional with the exchanges between Branson and Knox. Their history is a rough story. Branson caused a huge rift in the family, but especially to Knox. To read the love and forgiveness between not just the two brothers, but their parents and Cohen was amazing. Thank you, Tessa, for showcasing this wonderful family.

Moving forward.
This book had me laughing, swooning, and crying. All the emotions to show a very well written book.
I don't want to let these brothers go!!
Reading Branson and Ariana's story, you find that it wasn't just a love story.
It was a story about forgiveness and moving forward with life even if live seems stacked against you.
I really hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did!
Honestly, who could resist a brooding, hot man?!

"I thought you said you weren't a hero."
"Trust me, baby. I'm not. But if that's what it takes to get you to say yes, then you can call me whatever the hell you want."

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! 27 October 2014

I swear, this author just gets better and better. This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. We got to read about Branson in other books by Tessa, I was intrigued by his character and wanted to know HIS story. In previous books, I always thought he was misunderstood, the black sheep and he always come across as a total a$$hole......AND THEN CAME 'CONFLAGRATION'.
Holy hell, NOTHING prepared me for this story. I was captured from the first sentence, I felt such a connection to his character and I want to live inside Tessa's head with these AMAZING males she writes about, THAT would be the best party ever! FACT! He made me swoon, laugh out loud and made me pant like a dog!
I absolutely adored Ari, what a wonderful female lead. Her sass, her bravery and the fact that this woman actually knows her WORTH, I'd want her as a best friend!
I LOVED that we got to see other characters from Tessa's books, including..... NOPE! Read it and find out, you will not be disappointed!
Congratulations to you Tessa, another five star read for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars A TRIBUTE TO TRUE LOVE & DELICIOUS HOTNESS 11 November 2014
By Cassia Brightmore - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Do you know that feeling you get when you first experience real love? The way it can just wrap its arms around you, keep you safe and offer those warm feelings of comfort and security…a complete and total feeling of being content. That is how I feel after reading Conflagration by Tessa Teevan. This book is a tribute to love and the struggles it faces. The struggles we face to not only seek it out, but to maintain it once its been found. Branson and Arianna are two souls running from their past. Each on a path to discover themselves, and possibly true love in the process.

“If you don’t want anyone else to give up on you, you can’t give up on yourself.”

Timing and fate play a large role in Arianna’s story. On the even of her upcoming wedding, she learns of his fiance’s true intentions regarding their upcoming marriage. Realizing that everything she thought she knew was a sham, she leaves behind the life she’s known in search of something more, in search of who she really is. An almost fatal car accident sends her world spinning on its axis, especially when her savior is none other than Branson Wellington, the handsome, broken man she spent the night with months earlier. I loved the way these two re-connected. The way both saved each other in a way, to me, it set the stage for how their relationship would develop over the course of the book. I mean, come on – a handsome stranger saving you from perishing in a terrible accident? Who wouldn’t swoon over that?

That broken man is still in there no matter what strides he’s made since that night eight months ago. Tonight, he saved me. And even though he once said that it’s impossible, I’m making it my mission to save him, too.

Branson Wellington is a man that has made more than his fair share of mistakes. The pain and suffering he puts himself through made my heart hurt for him. Earning back the trust and respect of his family are key to him, and after one particularly low night and an encounter with a mysterious woman, he finally realizes that hope for his redemption isn’t lost. When that same woman resurfaces, the future looks bright with promise of not only re-connecting with his family, but finding that missing piece of the puzzle. I loved, loved, LOVED Branson’s character. He is that sexy balance of delicious hotness and alpha male that just makes my lady parts very, very happy. Experiencing his interactions and blossoming relationship with Arianna warmed my heart and left me more than a little breathless.

There’s something about her that makes me feel like I can finally make my way out of this darkness that’s descended over me

If you are a fan of Tessa Teevan’s work, you will not be disappointed. And if you aren’t – well get on the train ladies – this new series is definitely a good starting point. Those Wellington men, they will be more than happy to show you the ropes ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars In Review: Conflagration (The Wellingtons #2) by Tessa Teevan 8 November 2014
By Kim - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
If you follow my reviews at all, you'll know I'm a huge fan of Tessa Teevan's work. I've read all but one of her books (and I need to get that last one crossed off soon!) and have loved each and every one of them. Her men are hot, sexy and sweet. Her women are feisty and unafraid of going after what they want. Her stories are well-written, passionate and emotional. As much as I loved my Explosive boys, I think The Wellingtons have officially won my heart.

This isn't the first time we've heard about Branson Wellington. It is, however, the first time we get his story. In the previous books, Branson was a real jerk. He was probably my least favorite character introduced in the series, but I was still anxious for him to get a book. I hoped he possessed a redeeming characteristic or two. And, oh boy, he did. In Conflagration, we learn his true backstory. We get all the dirty details. And while he wasn't entirely innocent, he wasn't completely to blame either. Any time an author can make me fall in love with a character I previously took serious issue with, it's a winner for me. That's definitely what Tessa did with Conflagration. I really do think he's my favorite of Tessa's guys now. I never thought I'd say that, either. But, he has a way of growing on you once you learn what he's really about. And Ari? I absolutely adored her, too. She and Branson had some serious chemistry and it didn't take long to realize that their fake relationship was masking some very genuine feelings.

The beginning of Conflagration was intense. I love prologues that suck you in and make you demand to know more. Give me that over a book that starts off slowly and builds with time, any day of the week. I knew as soon as I started this book, I wouldn't be satisfied until I finished it. There would be no stopping... and there wasn't. I read it "cover to cover" in a matter of a few hours. I love the fake relationship trope. It's one of my favorites, especially when the characters are as good together as Branson and Ari were. I loved how each character grew throughout this book. During their more playful times to their sexier ones, I was Team Bran and Ari from the start. The drama was good, but never too overwhelming. The sexy times were hot. There were plenty of emotional bits and more than a few tears from me. I can't ask for more in a book.

As she's done with previous books in the Explosive and Wellingtons series, Tessa gives us a glimpse into the present-day lives of our favorite previous couples. Can I tell you how much I love that? I adore getting the opportunity to share more special moments with the couples I fell in love with early on. I love how it's all pulled together. I love the friendship between the characters in her series. Each of her books is more than just a romance. It's a total experience and I love every single minute of them. If Tessa kept writing about these characters and their network of friends forever, I'd be a happy camper. I'd read and love all of them and never want for more.

If you're a fan of sweet and sexy romance with strong male and female characters, you need to be reading this series. You won't be sorry you did. Just clear your schedule, because once you get a taste of her characters, you'll want to devour all of them.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
